Hey, it's an update! Another (tomb) spider jack, this time a Leviathan to go with the recent Goreshade The Cursed. I decided it's multi-barreled gun was the good opportunity I've been waiting for to put a Gauss Cannon onto a model. Otherwise it's not terribly different from the Harrower, as I figured these to be more robotic and methodical in their behavior so they're not trying to show the emotion and individuality that my other `Jacks go for.

Sooooooooo much stuff to build and paint. In addition to this that I just did, I've got a full 14 Bane Thralls waiting for paint. After that I've got ten Scrap Thralls and a Necrotech to build. Need to dig around for lots of random mechy and bionic bitz for the Thralls since there are only two different figs, and with how their blisters are (stupidly) packed I've got three of one pose and seven of the other. Once all of Those are done, I also picked up Mortenebra, the model of a thousand spikey bitz, the other day, and I've got plans to de-skirt her. AND while I'm doing all of that, I've got some three boxes and three blisters of Legion of Everblight stuff I'm tasked with building for my benefactor at the FLGS. Luckily I've not been conscripted into painting the Legion stuff yet.

So hypothetically speaking, what would you want to see me make for a second faction? I'm thinking Cygnar, where the focus is lots of Storm Nouns with lots of Lightning effects. Trollbloods, where I'll be going for lots of stones and scroll and making big stuff bigger. Legion of Everblight, where I'd be making them less Land Shark and more like "traditional" Dragons. Circle of Orobos, which would be a cross between Wolf's Rain and making the big stone things bigger and lots of Druids.

FINALLY remember to get Goreshade flocked when I was at the FLGS this week. I've been wanting to take this shot, but wanted him fully finished before I did.

Fantastic. Looks just as badass as the picture.
As far as your next project, I would go for Everblight. Then again, I'm kinda biased towards factions like these... >.>

That's sweet. Too bad you couldn't use them for 40k at any official event. What are the conversion rules for warmachine?

Must be based on the fig that it represents, so you can't take Bob and use him to make Steve, you have to start out with Bob to make a cooler version of Bob.

If your rules say you have a sword, the model must have a sword, you can't give him an axe.

Can't change the base size, base size is VERY important in Warmachine.

Gotta use 50%+ PP parts.

Officially, those are the rules. Unofficially? Does it look like what it's supposed to be? Is it cool? Then it's fine. I've got a number of things that are illegal, and have never been called on any of them. The Sauce is illegal because I replaced his axe with a scythe. All of my Seethers are illegal because they're built out of Slayers, not Seethers. My old Nightwretches, and when I get around to making new ones, will be illegal because they'll be done out of Deathrippers. My Malice might be considered illegal because I used none of the actual Malice parts on him. I think my Deathjack is technically illegal because I gave him tusks instead of horns. Lots of little nit-picky stuff, but like I said, never had a single person bat an eye at any of it.

Finally working on some new Cryx stuff again after building a bunch of my friend's Legion stuff, and it"s yet another caster from Team Asphyxious, Mortenebra. I'm undressing her and giving her more of a Tomb Spyder body, and it's taken me most of the morning to get this far on her.

Holy Carp, it's an update! Not a big one, but still, it shows intent...

Anyways, first up is the Leviathan, finally all painted up and finished.

Following that is a new "counts-as" Skarlock to hang out with Goreshade. Given his penchant for keeping undead elven thralls around, I figured this was a perfect use of the Dark Eldar Mandrake, which is my favorite DE fig so far released. I don't play DE but I had to use the figs for Something.

They are all quite amazing. Any chance we could get a sort of "how to" run down for them, you know, parts, paints, supplies, ect?

Stayed up too late working on this today, but I wanted to get some progress on her finally, so here's my updated Scarab Queen Mortenebra.

The Seethers are just the plastic Slayers with a mask from a Chaos Defiler, and claws made from green stuff and Trygon spikes.

The Tomb Spyder Jacks are made with a spider `Jack, Destroyer butt, and Tomb Spyder heads and legs.

Deathjack is made entirely from a Deathjack kit, with the addition of a different mask from a Chaos Defiler and custom made shoulders.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Picked up the new box of Bane Thralls this past weekend with some tournament winnings (go go poultry farmer asphxyous!) and ran into a problem. I'm down to my last lone Necron Warrior head! All this time I've actually NOT been buying Necrons to hack of up parts. I've been drawing on a fairly large collection of unbuilt Necron stuff that someone gave me, as well as left over bitz from my own past works. It seems that well of materials is starting to run dry though, and with all the GW price increases, I'm not going to buy boxes of Warriors just for their heads.

Conveniently I've had a little blister of that "naw" fangled Instant Mold stuff sitting next to my desk for awhile that someone had purchased and given me. (i do all his conversion and army building work so he wanted me to have cooler new supplies). I'd not thought of a reason to use it yet, but finally figured I'd give it a shot, since I had already ripped all the heads off my new Bane Thralls before I went looking for the replacement heads.

I think it came out very well. The mold in the middle was the first one I made last night, and those are the first two heads I've cast out of it. One is in the mold showing off the captured detail, the other is just showing off the flash. When they're fully cured and hardened later I'll carve that flash off and clean them up. In the mean time I've used up the rest of the blister of stuff to make two more molds to cut production time in third as I don't want this to take all week to make them.

Based off this quick first time use, Instant Mold get my seal of approval!

I'm stalled out on Morty for the moment, in case it wasn't obvious. Just don't relish messing with the tiny human arm. In the mean time however, WRATH! And by that I mean Scaverous. He's big, he's awesome, and his rules are stupid good, so of course I had to have him, and of course I have to make him even cooler. Here's where I'm at for the moment. I've drilled out his smoke stacks to be refilled later with green plastic. Didn't care for the tiny arm things in his chest, I think they make it too busy, so I carved out the spot where they're supposed to go and just put in more skulls instead. Nicked one of his skulls on his loincloth when I was doing that, so I carved it off and replaced it with a new one. Did not care for the rear loincloth, didn't like the way it stuck way out the back, and I wanted to stand my guy up straighter/taller and it was in the way of that, so it was removed entirely. I'm changing how he's going to hold the scythe, and I want to keep his hands for use in that, so I took off the ends and rebuilt part of the head and the haft. The bottom cap of the scythe is not glued on yet so I can slide it into his hand when that's ready.

Finished building him. He's a mirrored version of his artwork, on the basis of which direction the fig's head is turned. I switched his left and right arms around to get the pose I wanted. Rebuild his right wrist to accommodate how I wanted him to loosely hold the scythe, resting it against his shoulder. The other hand is holding a new friend, which I can't get a good picture of because of how he's holding it. For his own skull, a standard Necron head was too small, and one of my Jack heads was too big (and i don't have enough to spare at the moment anyways) so I altered his existing head to make it look more like a Necron head. He really is too big to fit on a medium base, and has zero contact with the inside area of his base. I've mentioned it elsewhere, but this really should have deserved a large base and seven extra wounds.

Alright, Scavs is all finished up. The green plastic still isn't as visible as I want it to be unless you catch it from the right angle, same problem the Bastard has. If I want it to do what I want it to do, I think I'd have to ignore the existing structure, smooth it over, and drill my own larger holes. Oh well, still looks nice from behind. As requested I've got a size comparison shot with him next to one of my plastic Seethers. Threw in the eBastard as well just because it amuses me that they both count as being the same size in the game.

I'm thinking Scavs will be my caster for the next Mayhem Cup, as he should work the best in the two caster team format. The Bastard will be making an apperance at the Warmachine Weekend Qualifier event at Mayhem next month as well, this time with his thirty eight fully painted and based Bane Thrall Cadre!

Finally got my hands on a Talos kit so I could make my Corruptor. Still needs a bit more work, mostly just adding wired to connect the tubes to the body and filling the space between his new cowl and body. I've never cared for how the necks on my Seethers came out, but never could find a good spine to put in there. When I was messing with the other stuff from the Talos kit I realized the tentacles were PERFECT for what I had been wanting. They also then make for great little tails! I've got plans to improve on the heads of my `Jacks so I'll add the next necks and tails to all my guys when I do that round of upgrades later.

Oh, and if you're wondering about the big horns/racks over his back... Well that my friend is the sad result of Tusk Envy.

Carved the cowl down smaller and fit it a bit closer to the body to help shrink the bulk, as well as shortened the arms slightly. Also got the feeder tube for the gun connected to the shoulder, and added some ammo vials to the top of it. To go with an asymmetrical look, I decided to keep the melee weapon self contained, and thus no tube connecting to the body.

Hey thanks! Not fall yet... But our Next Scheduled Event Here Is On July 23rd. and should be a fairly big one as it's a qualifier event for the Warmachine Weekend Invitational. After that we're traveling to Madison, Wisconsin for the Fourth Mayhem Cup Tournament to try and get our trophy back from them.

Make sure you post some links when you've gotten some cool Khador conversions built. I'm always interested in stealing some new ideals.

Don't know that this is going to get painted any time soon unfortunately. I've wanted to start a second faction for a long time, often talked about what it would be (which of course constantly changes) and I'm the last vet in my area whos still mono faction. One of the main reasons I've never do e it yet is there's always that one more Cryx project I want to finish first. Well I've decided there's always going to be that one more Cryx project so I'm drawing a line in the sand and putting my Cryx on indefinite hold. I've been working on a number of commission projects lately and those will fund my new army and occupy my work time till I've got stuff to start working on for it. What's the new faction going to be? One hint...
