Twisted Trueborn with Blaster

Ok, so on to the second battle report. Of course I appologize for the lack of pictures. Hence I will keep it short and sweet.
So His 1000pt list:
Empire Captain, on barded steed with always hit on 2+ sword.
Level 2 Battlewizard, (rolled for lore of heavens, got second sign and re roll ones on a unit)
30 Swordsmen Full command
10 Crosbows as detachment
10 Halberdiers as detachment
9 Knights, full command, lances (with captain)
Cannon.
His deployment:
Knights------crosbow with wiz---swordsmen---hallberdiers--- cannon on hill.
My list:
Prince, Collar of Shapesh, Brooch of the desert, Great Weapon, Light armour
Lyche Priest- Steed, Staff of Ravening
20 Skeleton Bowmen, Banner, Undying Legion
10 Skeleton Bowmen
1 Swarm
5 Light Cav (bunker for lyche)
3 chariots
3 Carrion
Screaming Skull
I deployed, mirroring him
Light cav and lyche--SSC on hill---10archers---20 archers---forest---charriots
carrion
Swarm was burrowed to go get the cannon.
Ok, so the plan was to use the light cav to bait the large units of knights, pull them out of position and then deal with everything else before I had to deal with them... But as you all know, nothing goes to plan...
Empire, Turn 1:
He rolled for turn one, although we both rolled a one he won because his army was smaller than mine... And this is were it went downhill! He marches forward at full speed... foolish I say? THen his magic is uneventful.. lastly his cannon targets my hierophant! and he rolls bang on target.. I fail my look out! sir roll... and BAM my hierophant is dead... and I haven't even had my turn one... this was going to suck. So I roll for crumble and I lose one more light cav (two had already died from the cannon shot), and that was it. I was lucky that the catapult the archers and the carrion were within 12 of the prince... I would now have to hug him for the game.. I was sorry about my chariots on the flank, but oh my! thay are ld 7! yay and they didn't lose anyone to clumble.
TK, Turn 1:
So, my turn one... the light cav, suprisingly don't lose any models! so I position them right in front of the heavy cav bearing down my flank... and angle them to pull them out of position. The archers pepper the halberdiers and the carrion move up to create options, everything is still staying within 12 of the prince... except the charriots that move up the flank.
Shooting sees the halberdiers lose a few models, as well as the block of swordsmen and the catapult does nothing.
Empire, Turn 2:
The knights pass their fear test and charge the light cav. The halberdiers move up to intercept the chariots the swordsmen march straight up the table... they are sensing a victory!
Magic sees his wizard miscast and end the magic phase and give himself a wound. The cannon hits the carrion, and kills one. The crossbows fire at the carrion to no effect.
The charge sees my light cav die, he chooses not to overrun, as that would take him off the table...
TK, Turn 2:
Crumble tests go well, I don't lose anyone.
The chariots charge the halberdiers. The swarm arrives and charges the cannon crew, who fail their fear test. My large block of 20 archers moves back. Shooting sees the SSC fail to kill any knights, the archers fire at the block of swordsmen and kill of a rank (but still has full rank bonus).
The swarm kills off the cannon crew and cannon. The chariots kill the halberdiers. And overrun past the swordmen to threaten the crossbowmen.
Empire, T3:
The Knight are so close to the table edge they cant wheel so they are forced to reform and face the hill with the catapult and archers on it. The sworsmen are out of range of the large archer unit, so move forward 4. The wizard helps the crosbows to re roll ones in the shooting phase and they do 5 wounds on the carriots!...
TK, T3:
Crumbles, see my catapult take 3 wounds (now I have a question here, are the wounds distributed to the catapult and the crew? because I gave 2 hits to the catapult and removed a crew, but I was not sure of this) The 10 man archer unit also lost a few members.
The large archer unit reform into a fighting block, ready to charge or be charged by the swordsmen. The chariots charge into the crossbows, who chose to hold (because I was too close for them to stand and shoot. They pass their fear test. Magic sees my prince get his incantation off (I also had the banner of undying legion and had lost a few skellies form the large skelly unit. My opponent used dice to stop that... and the movement spell went off. This allowed me to move back and this would mean that the swordsmen would be out of charge range again!... now they would have to wheel to engage me. Shooting sees the catapult and archers kill 3 knights, they don't panic.
The chariots do very well and kill the crossbows and the wizard as well.. over running off the table.
Empire, T4:
The knights fail their fear test! When they try and charge the catapult. The swordsmen turn to face my archer block.
TK, Turn 4:
Nothing crumbles. The chariots arrive and speed towards the center of the table. The large archer block charges the swordsmen and the carrion charge into the side. The catapult fires onto the knights and kills two more, they stand fast. The Combat with the swordmen sees the prince challenge a unit champion, only to cut him down... and the rest of combat sees the unit break and be overrun by the carrion.
Empire, Turn5:
The knights charge the catapult, but are just out of range...!! they advance closer.
TK, Turn 5:
Crumbling- the catapult crumbles, and the carrion crumble... oh well. The chariots advance to support the archer unit, and the archers reform to face the knights, the other archer unit lines up to bait the knights to line them up for the last turn...
Empire, T6:
The knights charge into the archers... kille them and then try to overrun into the other block to prevent them from charging. But fall short.
TK, T6:
Nothing crumbles. The archer block and the chariots charge the knights. The Captain challenges the prince and gets cut down! The chariots and the archers kill all but 2 knights, who then fail to do damage, and then flee, only to get run down by the 2 chariots... who failed to restrain pursuit! this made them run into the side of the hill (that was difficult) and both explode in a spectacular fashion!... what a great way to end the game.
Result:
Empire wiped out.
Tk I Had the prince, the 20 archers and the swarm left.
Notes to self, what did I learn?
Keep the Liche priest out of LOS!!!!... that could have gone a lot worse, but I was glad that I was able to use the general to mitigate my losses. Now the empire player was in no way a veteran of the game. Loosing my liche tho made it a very interesting game, even against a rookie!.
Comments?
Cheers!
