How do you model a Warboss on a bike?

Carefully.

No, seriously, take a look at my gallery for one I cobbled together over a year ago. It was a simple mash-up of a basic Bike, plasticard, and a Warboss. Throw on a Squig and some extra bitz and you are golden.

I wouldn't stray too far from a normal rounded biker base.

I did a couple. The guiding principle, in my opinion, is that you need to make it obviously big and impressive, and a stand-out showpiece model. Take an idea and go with it...

This one was inspired by the mounted Archeon model, with the horse rearing, I wanted to capture that same flow...

This one was wanting to use my boar from the fantasy orc warboss kit.

And give them really big powerklaws.

Methinks your Warbosses looks a tad weedy, Redbeard.

Mine uses an Ogre Blood Bowl Blocker as a base.
And Powerklaws from that chronogladiator from Inquisitor have a mighty fine size for a Warboss, I think.

So... is a standard bike base accepted as the base of choice?

I don't think there is a standard base of choice. My boar guy isn't on a bike base, he's on 40mm wide base made with a fantasy 40mm square glued to two halves of a 40mm round.

The biker boss that FW sells has a custom base that's rougly that big too.

One of the easiest ways to makea boss on bike is to use the AOBR boss. Basically you just grind off his loin cloth, and he fits on a bike. Then the arm holding the shoota, you cut it off at the wrist, cut off the gun, and glue the fist back on in a position where its holding handle bars.
Heres mine, never got around to finishing the paint though, so shield your eyes!

First off, no offense to the AWESOME KONVERSIONS shown earlier in this topic, but if you want a Warboss on a bike, you need to put him on a bike rather than a Trukk.

Second, the hard part of getting a Warboss onto a Bike is that he WON'T SIT DOWN. So that's your first challenge. If it was me, I'd do it the easy way and skip the metal Warboss you get in the blister (Crazy GITS make him work, but I am too lazy to saw metal). I'd use a PLASTIC one. Now, the AOBR Warboss is pure cool AND plastic, so if you can use it, good for you. He won't topple the (plastic) bike as easily (well, you may still have to weight the base) but if you're lazy like me, he's gonna end up standing on the bike's seat, which if you do it right, looks COOL and if you do it wrong it looks like ya just stood the git on the seat. LAME.

So the compromise here for the lazy Konverter is to use the Ork Legs that come with the Bike Kit and add the torso of your choice to the top. Ideally, plastic. Possibly the upper half of a Nob. If you can't swing that, use a Boyz body. But I know what you're saying. That he's not nearly BIG ENOUGH to be a biker boss. So what's a Git to do?

OK, so you have to really dress this guy up. You can't make the model a lot bigger, so do whatever you can to make the bike look awesome. Give the Boss a flag on his back, or an awesome WAAGGHH banner. Give him a huge Powerklaw. If you have a bigger head (like a metal Warboss head) try that and see if it looks good (just don't go TOO big). Heck, give him a big gun for the other hand. Then paint him way brighter than the other Orks in the unit. Little tricks like this will make him seem bigger than he is.

Like I said, that's if you're lazy. If you want a ready-built model, Forgeworld produces an Ork Warboss Biker. And if you want to use a bigger Warboss, well, there's always the old jeweler's saw and Greenstuff, but that's a story for another day.

And oh yeah, make it so his bike is running over a Grot. Awesome.

WAAGGHHH!

I would just convert a current Ork bike and a AoBR Warboss.

The Warboss just needs his right wrist cut and a bike right hand added. Use some shoulder bits to make a gauntlet to cover the cut/pin job.

I saw my friend do it with his Ork army. He's a newbie and made it look great.

It appears that the conversion of the AoBR Warboss to fit on a warbike is the easiest way to get it going.
Many thanks for the input.

Hi,

I was confronted to the same dilemna when I wanted to make my biker boss, so I tweaked a trakk with some warbike bitz and a rear buggy wheel.

For the boss himself I used a new plastic nob cause they are slightly bigger than bikernobz. They have thicker legs and they are higher. They are so much cool too and full of options (attack squigg)

The finished boss:

Note how I used the gazkhul bull totem

My 2 cents

Deffkoptas are also quite large and make a good starting point for a warboss conversion.

My only real criticism on just sticking a boss/nob torso on regular boyz legs/deff copta body, is they are just too small. It ends up looking goofy having this huge torso, arms and head, on tiny legs. Not to sound like an A-hole, but it looks like someone that was born with their legs not working, and they get all shriveled up looking.

Seriously if your not a pro with GS and conversions, the AOBR boss is just the easiest way to go. As I mentioned above in my post, 2 simple things, and presto hes on a bike. Its an easy conversion, and looks great. Hell building that bike I put mine on was about 5x harder then sticking the boss on there. That was a chaos bike chassis, chopped up and widened, tires from 2 different toys (I had good fun chopping those up) I had to build a front support chassis for the motor the whole sha bang. The boss, I cut his loin cloth off, and readjusted his hand. Done and done

I went for quick and cheap. Started with a regular bike and added a tau gun and raised the handlebars:

Took the AoBR Warboss and shaved off the plastic in his crotch and his gun (cut off the hand to reposition later):

Little green stuff work ...

And then the paintjob. I like that it still fits on a regular bike base.
