I was thinking of what would be good for Tyranid Spore pods since there are no models for them.

The cheapest option is probably Styrofoam balls you get from a craft store and then green stuff tenticles on them. I remember making snow men out of these when I was a kid and they were really cheap.

My cousin had this Plasma Hatcher toy which is basically an egg which a creature hatches out of. Here is a link to the cheapest one I could find.
http://www.amazon.com/Mega-Bloks-Plasma-Hatcher-Monster/dp/B00172M8YG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1262027748&sr=1-2

You could repaint the egg part of toy put it on a base and make tenticles coming out of the egg.

What you think?

Gathering the Informations.

Coconuts.

Seriously. Remove the 'skin' and drain 'em, then go nuts sculpting details onto them.

I think those Plasma Hatchers are going to be quite popular for Spore Pods.

Now thats an idea Coconuts. If drained do they actually last and don't biodegrade?

You have to carve out the coconut creams , then yes they last.
But then , they are just hairy empty spheres , which we can get foam balls easier o_o without hair removal.

Butcher a tennis ball and start attacking it with milliput, perhaps.

How about large plastic easter eggs.

No offence, but hasn't this been covered at least by half dozen times in various tyranid threads by dozens of posts? Searching should have yielded something...

If you have money the FW spore chimeny seems like it would look quite good for this... and its a tyranid piece!

A spore chimney and a mycetic spore pod are very different creatures.

Yeah styrofoam probably is easier then coconuts then.

I talked with a friend of mine and he suggested taking a tennis ball and cutting it up into several peices and mouning it on a base like a cd so that it looked like a pod that had opened up in the crater that it landed in.

I also heard that epic cast made a spore pod way back in the day but those are probably hard to come by.

Here's a picture of the Plasma Hatcher that Alex posted so you can see scale with a `Nid beastie.

Plasma hatcher is really tempting to go with as I can give the toys to my cousins and keep the eggs.

Odd that the lil creature that comes from the pod looks almost like a tyranid. Forget giving the toys away, convert them into something else! Haha I'm so cheap!

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".
