Ok Ive had a few Ims and request to show how i did my bases for my asault troops and the rest of my army...

First off what you need about three glad sandwich containers...
Plaster of paris/ joint compound
white glue.
black primer( the only time i ever use black primer)
two shades of brown paint ( one dark and one light)
Light grey paint
Off white paint

Flocking material ( loose gravel, fine turf, ballast) from woodland scenic....
static Grass from woodland scenic too.

It takes about two days all together( due to the plaster of paris)
But once it dry and broken up...
start to finish is about two hour Of work( minus paint drying)

Buy in Bulk its cheaper and you can ue it for other things.... why pay 7 dollars for a few oz small container, when you pay 10 dollars for a large container.

You don't paint your figures on the bases?

Do you prime the figures without a base? Attached to a bottle top or something? Just curious.

Nice work on those bases. Very dynamic.

I build the figures first primer them on the base. I do a base paint job of the figure first.( I use a blue tack poster putty to build the figures).

Then i dismantle them and paint the detail work on them such as detailing out the chest, the helmet etc...
It does take longer but you paint the entire model, and they look great afterwards....
As you can see the devie squad, and my sternguard squad, there.
I can do a How too on them too... I do need to build up another sterngaurd squad....
Also check 50 assualt marines/ vangaurd blog im still working on.
