I've been visiting this site for years now... decided it was time to actually join and put something up. Therefore here is my work in progress Daemon Prince for my Chaos Daemon army. Please bear in mind it's the basics at the moment, you'll spot the blue material temporarily holding the arms etc on not started to green stuff it yet or add the other spikes i'm intending to attach. It's easy to get tunnel vision while modelling, so what do you think? Does it look vicious enough?

Looking good. I think the shoulders need bulked up a bit just so his head sits nicely and doesn't stick out too much. You going for a particular theme with your army?

also welcome!

I don't really have a theme to the army, although this daemon prince is going to be unaligned mark wise.

I apologize for the photos, the light was fading. Also he'd have been more assembled but the drillbit I was using snapped last night.

Thank you, hadn't thought about the shoulder size... I think you're right i'll increase the shoulders in bulk during the build.

Damn winter sun! Or lack of it.

Also just a thought, maybe add boney protrusions breaking through the flesh from the spine.

Or where the straps meet you could have some kind of representation of the undivided star being seared into his back. Kind of like constant branding.

Got a bit distracted, started making my soul grinder.

I really don't like the actual model, i've always thought it looks like a friday afternoon job. - The discussion may have gone like this:

Designer 1 = "The new codex needs a vehicle... so, how about we stick a daemon on a defiler?"
Designer 2 = "What like this?" (plonks a bloodthirster on top a defilers lower half).
Designer 1 = Yeah that'll do."

Still in design, so no green stuff work yet.

I swear I recognize the toy on the arm from somewhere.

Well, of the four main parts that make up the gun... only 2 are original, the two end parts It was some sort of turbine off of something. At least I think it was a turbine.

Think i've sorted out the opposite arm, combat weapon with harvesters... but my superglue dried up the day before so I can't assemble it until I get some more, so hopefully an updated picture this afternoon.

Think the second combat arm will be represented by multiple small drills etc attached at the mid-section.

Okay, an update.
Shield attached (magnetized to make transport easier), some pins added to have green stuff added over later as spikes. (Back spikes not added yet).

Secondary arm added to soul grinder, combat with harvesters (end section magnetized to allow removal for damage). Gun on other arm is also magnetized.

Anyone got any thoughts on whether I should add symbols to the shield? Spikes etc? Also How much armour should I put on the grinders legs and lower section?

hi!

love your deamon prince!!!
i think he would look even meaner if you added some big spikes on the shield.
but only with spikes wont look like a proper chaos shield.
you could draw a chaos symbol or a use some green stuff and carve a big mouth with lots of teeth or something.

Ok, it's been a while... about a year - really? wow. Well my mind does tend to wander somewhat when it comes to modelling

So here is an update. With the release of the new plastic daemon prince the one I was building looked a little out of place... he dwarved them. Thus I changed him into a bloodthirster

A shot showing some bases - also my part done daemon prince and the creature which pulls my chariot.

Bases: some pebbles, some GW sand effect and a bit of paint, then a purple wash - nice and simple.

Woops, forgot the soul grinder.
Some improvement on the modelling, the white plasti-card bits -- but the camera on my phone doesn't like the evening light. Suprised it's worked so well on those above, but my actual camera is never charged

Some plasti-card work done, a few indicative parts temporarilly attached.
