"Damage to both sides"? That's an odd perspective. 40k's rules are such an absolute clusterfeth at this point in time that I'm really looking forward to a ruleset that lets me use all my 40k stuff in it without too much pain. Shattered Imperium(s) would be a godsend, assuming that WP can get a coherent, balanced, ruleset together (so good luck there, as well!)

"To allow customers to use their X-wing and STAW models together, we wrote a new human faction into the Star Wars universe whose ships look exactly like Star Trek ships."

Does the setting get richer or poorer for it?

Except that's a terribly poor analogy. 40k has a strong, rich (plagarised but still a unique mashup) background developed over 30-odd years while Wapath has... what? Pretty much what Mantica has, which is a derivative (from GW) and rather generic background written over a couple of years. The main USP of which is trying to make their not-GW proxy models into "unique" via background written specifically to make them "different" to GW's ones. WP's entire background could fit into a little corner of the 40k universe quite easily. Warp Storm-isolated sector with Orks, Squats, Humans, a mutated plague and a(nother) splinter group of Eldar. Warp storms lifted. Everybody Dance (fight) Now. Done.

There's no chance of a "Shattered Imperium" book doing any "damage" to 40k in terms of background or IP, and the worst it could do to Warpath is get more players on board. Which, incidently is the only "damage" that it could possibly do to 40k - that purely mechanical level of drawing disaffected 40k players away and into WP. Mantic's hardly in the dominant position where they can just pretend that the big dog doesn't exist, after all. Their last playtest email came right out and said "we need playtesters and if you only have an army of space marines, just bring those and join in".

Mantic is the Lidl of wargaming as it is, so using other models is perfectly fine with them.

Ha! That's a pretty apt comparison, even down to the quality improvment over the last few years.

Pledgemanager Reopening and Shipping Information

The Short Version:
•We’re splitting shipping in two: Wave 1 will ship September 2016, Wave 2 will ship Q1 2017. Details on what is shipping in Wave 2 below.
• We’ve created plastic unit bases for holding your teams together.
• We’re reopening the pledge manager so you can buy the unit bases and extra vehicles for your armies.
• We will contact you separately if you’ve not filled out the pledgemanager or filled it out incorrectly.
• The latest versions of the rules and a battle report.

On with the show…

The latest indications from China are that not all of the tooling will be completed in time to then produce and ship us some of the kits in time for our estimated September shipping date.

The good news is that we’re going to split the package into 2 with no extra shipping charge.

This means that you will get:
•1 package in September
•1 package in Q1 2017.

Which miniatures are affected?

The miniatures that will be in Wave 2 in Q1 2017 are:
•GCPS Troopers
•GCPS Mule
•Plague Mule
•GCPS/Plague Hornet
•Veer-myn Tunneller
•Asterian Chira/Chroma
•Forge Father Hultr

Because of the volumes ordered we’ve decided that the GCPS Mule will be tooled in hard plastic instead of resin!

GCPS Mule - Now Hard Plastic!

We’ve not got all the information to decide on the additional Plague components just yet so currently they remain resin.

Team Bases

We’ve sculpted and are tooling a set of plastic Team Bases to hold your miniatures for Warpath Mass Battles. You’re going to have a lot of figures and these trays are simply designed to help speed up moving your figures.

They come in 2 types: a tray that will hold 5 miniatures with a 25mm base and a tray that will hold 2 miniatures with a 40mm base.

And since you helped support the Kickstarter, we’ve put together two bundles of 10 trays. Each bundle is priced at a special Kickstarter rate of $12.

Read on to see how you can get yours.

Pledgemanager Reopening

We are reopening the Pledgemanager for those who completed it first time around – you’ll get an invite in the next 24 hours.

We’ve added the option to purchase the unit bases from the pledgemanager and given you another opportunity to purchase the vehicles again, including the hard plastic GCPS Mule or the Asterian Chroma.

The pledge manager closes midnight 3rd July (GMT), so there’s not much time to get yours.

If you’ve not filled in the pledgemanager Some backers have not filled out the pledgemanager and will be contacted separately to get your details added to the PM.

Some backers have filled out the pledgemanager, deleted their pledge level and then spent the credit on something else. You will be contacted separately as to how to resolve this.

Well, I am one Hornet and one Hultr away from getting everything in Wave 1.

Good news on the Mule. Maybe I should scrounge up the $40 for a three-pack.

I'm pleased the mule's gone to hard plastic too and will probably have to add one (or 3)

Three for $40 mules are hard to turn down. I wonder how they compare to the FW Centaur in terms of footprint.

I wonder if they'd consider doing runs of the team bases in clear plastic.

Damn, most of what I ordered is now Wave 2, and I barely ordered anything.

My big splurge was mostly GCPS stuff, so yeah - Q1̶ 2 2017 for me. Hopefully before the import tax laws change here in Q3 so I don't get hit with more charges. I'll no doubt get hit for smaller charges as they take their time to fix whatever shipping issues my order has, while writing full retail values on the customs forms for each item they forgot/need to replace, though.

What's the practical difference between GCPS and Plague Mules as far as the models go?

I've attached a side by side picture. Originally they were supposed to be 2 totally separate kits now they aren't sure. A resin conversion kit for a plastic kit would make more sense now but you would lose the damage effects on the main body - I can live with that. Or better yet if they can get the plague bits on the sprue like the Hornet and just sell it as a duel kit.

Very happy about HIPs Mules now I need to figure out how many bases to get - a pack of 10 will cover 50 minis (or 20 large ones) so it won't need many packs even for Veermyn.

The Plague vehicle is a GCPS Mule maintained by pikies.

It it just me, or are they missing a trick by making the larger multibases for 2 models rather than 3? With 2, it's surely less hassle just to move models individually. Very much a fan of the 5-model base though - finally a way to handle those zombies!

2-model teams are stupid, yes. Told them as much on day 1. But they feel limited by the fact that models some 5 to a sprue, so one sprue wouldn't make a legal unit of 2 teams.

Looks like an extra 6 months wait for the stuff I ordered.
:-(

Personally I don't mind the wait *providing* the rules don't get rushed out for Wave 1 and are a pile of gak. I'd hate to be waiting 6 more months for figures to a game that I'd not play as the rules were rushed.

And yet they are willing to cut arms and crap off of sprues and put them in a bag for sale with a sprue of troopers.

Not trying to be an apologist, but I thought that was just because the factory offered a "sprue snipping service", and it ended up being cheaper for Mantic to pay for that and save on shipping the much smaller baggies rather than entire sprues, rather than anything more sinister. It certainly must've helped them a ton with the Deadzone scenery.

So I didn't order anything but left my dollar in. Not sure if I completed a pledge manager for that dollar or not. The mules n plastic...if I get the chance I'll probably order a set.

Clear plastic movement trays I'd do too, but I doubt they offer them.

I'd probably be interested in a dual kit of mules, or possibly getting a trio of plague mules if they were the GPSC kit plus some additional resin bits, but since they're being vague still, I don't know what I'll do there.

Possibly also a beard-tank or two to use as Dwarven Steel Behemoths in Warpath. I'm waiting on them getting back to me regarding (additional) shipping costs for more add-ons, though.

I've been going over the rules, and the game seems pretty good. It's a pity that I'll likely rarely, if ever, play. In the area where I live it's hard enough to find a game of 40k. Anything more obscure is just a pain to find an opponent.

My plan is to make the models multi-purpose to play in either game system. GPS Mules (depending on actual size) can double as either Imperial Guard Taurox, or Tauros. Dwarf Tank will either be a Leman Russ or Taurox (Squat theme army).

So the GCPS are delayed but the Asterians aren't? So long as I don't get Pootsed with any additional shipping charges, I can live with that. I'm much more excited about the Asterians anyway.

Do the rules include any walkers for the Asterians? Right now, Abandoned Frontier is selling their walkers for $15 shipped, so I might pick up one or two more if there is a good excuse. They are comparable to Corporation walkers in volume, and made from Mecha Front style resin.

Also, any chance of some Warpath adventure books?

The closest thing to a walker the Asterians have on the list right now is a Kalyshi Beast (massive infantry), but it's melee only. Alternatively, you could get some and run them as Spectra Escort Gunships until they add a walker and/or a defined gunship model, it's an anti-grav tank (jetpack walker!) armed with a heavy AT gun.

We've been asking for, and assuming the eventual existence of, an Asterian walker since the end of the first Deadzone campaign, but it hasn't happened yet. Looks like they prefer to continue the Kalyshi diversion, of which I'm honestly not a fan. I think that the Asterians should have been 100% tech, and not have this Exodite-esque thing tacked on; the teched up bows and glaives should have been saved for units of Yndij in an eventual Rebs army imo.

So have these pledge manager invites gone out yet? I might review my decision not to participate in the light of this new Mule.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

If you pledged, and then never filled out the manager, then the original invite should still work. The email about it only had a generic link to the pledge manager http://manticdigital.com/pledgemanager/warpath/

No, it was asked about when they were taking suggestions for DZ2 and they said there are no plans for Asterian walkers, not every list will have them and the Asterian weapon drones fulfill that type of role in the Asterian list. (I can't find the quote and it's too long ago to dig out now).
