Unbelieveable, I am the first one to actually comment these two mini's? Great..
I've read the background, a bit sparse, but else a nice base to go further with afterwards. Flaggelant and Guard parts mixed up together always give nice end results for traitor guard, cultists and heretics alike, but the paintjob could be slightly better.
You've got my interest, now get on with building more! The Dark Gods demand it!

And the shall be appeased! im gonna port up some new pics tomorrow when theres light, i have about 20 guardsmen assembled atm but am waiting on my pig iron heads which should arrive sometime this week, im popping out tomorrow to get some hellhounds and devildogses so you should see them tomorrow as well.
for the paintjob im kind of stuck on what to use for a highlight, any suggestions or ideas anyone has would be great. Thanks
Edit: i have added some more to The Background it will be updated as i go i have about two pages so far and want to let it out slow so as to not make everyone wait as i write another 2 pages.

I think the problem with the paint job isn't the highlights, but more with brush control and paint thickness. The torso of the first pic is actually really well done as far as shading and definition, but you can see that some areas aren't well covered (you can see black through areas of the arm for example) and there is paint from other areas splattered on it (like where the scythe meets the arm.) Overall, fairly good job, I like the models, just work on cleaning it up a bit and this army will look really good!

Agreed. You know what to do and how to do it; you just need to be a little more careful so we can see your full potential.

hahahhaha okay, now that my chaos ranting is over...
what set did the scythe from your first mini come with? also, do you think mixing up tau firewarriors pieces could work with guardsmen? I want to try it out sometime, give them a scavenged armor look for my renegades

Avoid the temptation to rush out the paint jobs. It’s worth the extra few months of work, to have an army that you will ogle for decades to come. The only thing that feels better then stomping a bunch of space marines, is looking damn good while you do it, well looting the corpses feels pretty good too. BTW does anyone Know some CSM that would like to buy some gene seeds?

Very hungry flesh hounds? isnt that a board game?
i got the rediculously awesome and unnneccesary scythe from the empire flaggelents box set they work really well with imperial guard if you want a ragged look, i bought a box of guard and a box of flaggelants and thats enought to make twenty guardsmen BUT you will need ten other circular bases or it wont work.
@meatshield i definately am going to concentrate more on quality rather than speed but please not that this is my first experiance with humans and have only painted three of them at that so im sure that ill get a lot better
EDIT: horrible occurance today! i went down to my flgs to pick up a hellhound and devil dog BUT THEY WERE CLOSED!?!?!? i feel pretty stupid as this is the exact same thing that happened to me yesterday...i really need to check theyre business hours sometime.

Have you tried that army painter... thing? paint on the base paints, dip it in some wash/varnish/whatever that can holds and let it dry? A friend of mine painted his guard army that way, and they look stunning!

I may be the only one noticing this but aren't renegades supposed to have taken the eagles off the vehikles and such?
Or is someone gonna tell me I spent enourmous amounts of time on nothing?
Anyway, looking good. As always the heads really make the models.
But? Isn't that scythe arm way too thin for the model, well not on the foto, but IRL with the Catachan arms, not sure.
Good luck.

thanks for the luck, ill use it well. With the eagles in the photos its hard to tell but i have damaged them quite a bit to make it look like they have been forcibly removed, for example on one of the sponsons for my russ its hanging diagnol and half of the wing is broken off, let me know if you guys like it or if i should just remove them completely in the future. Thanks

For the photographs theres a good article here on Dakka fiddle about with the setting some and it'll improve. With the tanks I'd recommend trying to undercoat them first as I can still see gray plastic on the vehicle. Do you use a sparay undercoat on these by the way if not I would suggest that as a good first step.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
