Alright, I'm sure you know of the Tyranid bitz packs, so I was wondering, in the mostrous arms pack, would the big sything talons work for boneswords if I turned them upside down?
Or would it look bad.

Without really knowing what is available, presumably if they have not released a bit for the bonesword to use then whatever you say is a bonesword is a bonesword, imo.

I plan on using those big scything claws for a plastic Swarmlord kitbash, but the scything talong that come with the Tyranid Warriors should work okay for their boneswords with a little work.

Could I use gs to make it more like one? I've been told it might not work.

Pfft, why not? As long as it looks like a sword, who's going to argue and say "No that won't work!"?

I just use a big sycthing talon.

I have seen some awesome ones that were carved out of a strip of thick plasticard and they all so far have actually looked pretty good.

Well, tyranids' weapons are supposed to look like part of their body, not something masterfully crafted, so I don't see why not!

Hmmm, I had a quick easy how to guide on making boneswords, but apparently the images were deleted from the gallery for being irrelevant out of context.

Otherwise yeah, cut off Scytals, turn them upside down, and swap the "hangs" to the other arm so that the fingers still close inwards. Quick easy and workable, though I prefer to make new blades so they look less like upside down Scytals.

Yeah ive got a nid army to,just turn the talons upside down.It looks fine.

Just clip off the talon, and glue it upside down on the bottom of the hand. You'll probably need to use some green stuff to fill in the cracks. Then just sand down the area you cut the talon off of. What do you mean, adjust the joints? Make it look like the nid is holding a sword?

Ok what I did was cut the wrists and glued them on upside down but there is a big gaping hole in it so I need some GS. I'll post some pictures soon.

Dug thru all the photos on my computer and found my step by step for making Boneswords.

Step 1, Scytals.

Step 2, cut off hands, swap arms, and turn them upside down.

Step 3, trim and noch so they look less like Scytals.

Alt Step 3, replace Scytal blade with plasticard blade and other details added.
