So I have been looking around online and other forums looking for a cheaper way to make wraithguard conversions and it seems several people like to use WHFB wood elves dryads. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about how tall the models are and if this would be a viable conversion method with some eldar torsos and some greenstuff?

Nothing currently, got out of the hobby, maybe getting back in?

Wow, those are very good conversions. Looks work intensive, but could be cheaper than metal.

Hm, I really like that. what do you think it is made of? I see the necron warrior body with some wire wrapped around the midsection. The bottom part of the guass rifle plus some wires and eldar weapon bitz (eldar missile launcher back i think) and i can't quite tell what the head is but it looks like a weapon bit as well. Then there's the obvious brownstuff. The loinclothe and the dire avenger bit.

Anyone find anything else in there?

edit- I dissected the pieces the best I could.

The tan bits appear to be custom cast.

The brown parts are brownstuff. It's like greenstuff but a little less malleable from what I can gather.

The heads are resin casts.

Brownstuff sets harder than the greenstuff.
It's better for harder edges as well (like blades).

I am planning on trying this. The only thing's I am not completely sure of is the head and the muzzle of the gun. I think I might try cutting most of the back of a dire avenger head off then GS the front of the wraithguard head. For the muzzle, I don't have a clue.

Those are very nice conversions indeed.

But I'm not sure how much cheaper they'd be once you factor in time and materials.

Weren't there some rumors of plastic Wraithguard coming, some magical day in the future?

There were some rumors like a year ago I remember.

As for cheaper. I have a lot of random eldar bits anda good bit of greenstuff for the thing's I'd need to GS up a bit. Wire or whatever else I choose for the midsection is cheap. The only thing I'll really have to buy is a box of warriors. SO for the cheap thing, no, it wouldn't be cheaper to drop 160+ dollars (tax included) for 10 wraithguard. I've tried ebay but I keep getting outbid at the last second. I really want to try my hand at converting though. Have been toying around with quite a few different ideas.

If I do happen to start converting things though I'll make sure to start a blog for it.
