Tough Tyrant Guard

Well Lint suggestted it to me again so i bought a Griffon( when i worked for Reaper the model i reieved wouldnt have passed QA) there a lot of softness in the wing tips and claws, but i can brownstuff them out to fit the softness( softness is when a model isnt hot enough for the pewter or lead free materail to make it to the ends to fill it out or the mold rings were too tight giving you a shiny edge and lost of detail there)
But here is my captain on his steed, ( or i can make him a venerable dread , by adding armour to the griffon an removing the wings) yes the wings are pinned in three angles so i can remove them for transport.
What ive done so far is ive giving the Griffon a bit and harness,, Filled in the gaps with green stuff and made it look like fur and feather( pretty easy technic,). Made a saddle out of greenstuff( will a saddel blanket and cushion) and a saddle out of plastic card. I added a few pouches to the back of the saddle.
I add a long cloak to one side of the rider to cover up one of the legs.
This my second attempt at doig long hair .... Im still wondering about it....
I wanted to go for the old school emperor look...
Hes armmed with a Relic blade and a storm shield( thanks too LInt)
Enjoy...
Im still wondering if i want to add saddle bags or a more fancier harness to the steed...

Everything looks pretty good except the hair. It just doesn't look quite right. Get some more shots of just the head area for us.

I'm not quite seeing it on the head- is it an artificial mane / headpiece on top of his helment, or his real hair (somehow coming out of the helmet)? I think a long braid sounds like a better idea.
The overall idea is really cool

Put Greco-Roman style crest on him- hair coming out froma HELMET is all kinds of absurd, and looks bad to boot. (Not that you did a terrible job with the hair- its just that even PERFECT hair wouldnt look good coming out of a space marine helmet.)

Great idea why not use him as Samael! I'd say the shield looks to big and awkward though maybe a buckler would work better. It currently looks as if it's getting tangled up in the Griffon.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Well i add a Grenadelauncher, add more wavy hair to cover up a should joint, reposition the sheild so the point end or botton is faceing foward( as i did on my bike command squad) I still like the Huge shields vs the combat shields( plus I might add a lance to him later on).
The Aux Grenadelauncher was made out of plastic tubing and a auspic scanner( icouldnt find any krak grenades) so the ammo belt is mostly Frags( i have to add a few links to the underside of the belt.
The Bit and Brittle I add a couple of seals and (DA Icons wings) wings, then for the Horn of the saddle i used the death head that came from the DA icon( I dont waste nuthing).
The power pack Icon was DA in nature but green stuff and Imperuim Eagles I have nice Icon for a force commander.
I dont know if i want to make stirups or not ... but i have been looking into Britle tackle, and found a nice fansty one im going too use.
The helmet on the lap, well I want to use it but then i dont...
what do you think... should i poll it or not?
the green field which the helmet is one was going too be back armour for the griffon, but i dropped due to i can make scale armour a little better with plastic card.

So he has a power sword, a grenade launcher, a shield and 2 helmets? I really dig the idea, I'm just not sure how the execution is going. The grenade launcher belt looks kind of (seriously) silly to me with the spacing and the grenades being stuck together in a kind of every other pattern. From the looks of it the scratch built grenade launcher is just a couple different sizes of plasticard, and I don't see where the belt actually feeds into the thing....
Like I said I totally dig the idea, and if he's going to have a relic blade and flying mount that's going to be what, strength 7? I'm guessing he's a head hunter. With that said you might want to consider making the grenade launcher a psycannon instead, being he's probably going to be out to kill stuff like demon princes and the like. I'm not sure how to feel about the hair, it looks kind of like he has my dreadlocks.
The idea itself is great, it's just the couple rough spots you need to smooth other to keep something that might be awesome from in my opinion being ruined by what looks amateurish.

Nice, I like the grenade launcher/ss combo. What about putting some cybernetics on the gryffon? Nothing serious, maybe an eyepiece/targeting reticle? Glad to see you found him though, 'tis only fitting for your army's personality.
