That is very good for a start! However, one thing I am opposed to mostly becuase of personal taste is the metal. It is okay for the carapace but looks bad on the gun. In the future, I would keep well away from metal when painting nids. Second, on the Genestealers ribcage, I think it would look better if ou kept i the same skin tone instead of the blue on the carapace and keep that blue for the carapace only. I hope it helps!

These are very good for a first try. All I could say is to add some shadows. No complicated techniques are needed for this, just use a wash and that will do the trick. Again, very good for a first try!

add a horn... a big nasty looking one to make it look like a conversion as opposed to a mere cover up

First off welocme to Dakka!

Now as for the models, there are a lot of bare spots sticking out, Try watering down some darker paint and letting it seep into the cracks.

Here is a Whirlwind tank that i am workin on with the few colours i have which are (metallic gold/siver/blue/red and black green ivory(looking) bone white red and a blue) (my friend gave me these colours in seperate bottles so i have no idea what they actually are) lol (the tank was already blue my friend gave me a Space Marine army of about 1500 points painted this blue and gold) so any ideas is appreciated for repainting or adding to it. Add a little water to your paints to help with coverage.
There are a lot of white spots here and there.
Make sure you get in the little crags and crooks of the model.

Good start though.

I would try to tone down some of your paints, i dont think any metallics go on tyranids. Plus the blue on that termagaunt looks a bit too glossy for me, but hey thats just my opinion.

Now the Red and Black looks a thousand times better. It is simple and clean. Just pick up some GW Devlin Mud wash and watch the model pop.

I would suggest giving the, what looks like bleach bone (the skin), an ink wash. Devlan mud or orgry flesh.

On your Whirlwind, I would becareful on adding trophies and dead enemy parts on vehicles and model bases. As long as the trophy racks have different races on it then it is fine. But sticking with one race then it starts to look a bit odd. It's hard to explain but trust me a vehicle by itself looks good but with a bunch of extra body parts glued on can draw the attention away from the model.

So, please do not think I am being an because I am not. Constructive C&C is the best way we learn in this hobby other than the often way too expensive method of trial and error.
