Hi all,

I've been watching the P&M blogs with great interest since I joined Dakka and decided it was high time I got in on the act. (This should also help keep me motivated to complete this project, haha! )

The project is a custom Space Marine force (surprise, surprise!) centered around a "counts as" Kor’sarro Khan. The fluff for this particular force of the chapter is still a bit up in the air at the moment, but I'll be filling that in as I go along (and as I think of it ). Sufffice to say, it's a mainly bike mounted force, currently working with an Inquistor of the Ordos Xenos.

In order to personalise the force a bit, I've decided to mount the whole force on Scout bikes rather than the standard Space Marine bikes. I did this because I prefer the look of the Scout bikes, they look more like military vehicles than the "cruisers" that the Space Marine bikes are. The one exception to this is Captain Kornuz Amerikka's bike (counts as Kor'sarro Khan). His bike will be more ornate with the extra exhaust to represent his "fleet" rule.

Current plan for the initial 1750pts is as follows:

I'm a fierce kitbasher, generally I like to have each model in my army to have at least on piece from another kit. You may notice this below Oh and sorry about the crappy pics. All models are WIP, obviously. Some mold lines must be removed and there shall be additions made to the models as I get the parts.

Currently planning the following:
..Complete command squad. (Standard Bearer, 3 vetern biker marines)
..First 10-man bike squad (1 sergeant, 7 biker marines, 1 [2-man] attack bike)

Plan is to have those done by end of March. Current unemployment is putting a dent in my plans (especially seeing as I have to buy a Scout bike and a Space Marine bike for every single bike model, lol!) That means I need to figure out how to do a realistic standard bearer. The one from the Command Squad box looks very odd stuck straight up in what is meant to be a rapidly moving squad. Any suggestions?

running legs and a transport like a razorback or Rhino, I'd go for a razorback, and get some assault cannons on it.

Add it to the back of the bike. Or mount those small back banners on a back pack and call that your standard bearers.

Obviously I'd have to Astartesy it up a bit. And 30euro for a banner seems a bit steep. Ah well, it was never meant to be a cheap hobby, haha!

This could be quite and admirable army. I personally would either try to greenstuff or make a paper banner.

Then again I've never liked Bretonia.

I used them to get some replacement space marine legs.

As for the banner I use the brettonian banner linked to earlier and also the larger one from the command sprue.

Both look awesome with the marines, For the penant idea though you could add them to the back of your sgt bikes or something, just to help them stand out .

One comment tho is that you hav the ravenwing back and fronts on them, might be gd to incorporate that into the heraldry perhaps... just a thought. Seems slightly out of place otherwise.

Yeah, I had the same thought, so I limited the winged imagery to just the Captain, my reasoning being that the Eagle is an important part of his heraldry. The sword is an important part of the chapter's imagery overall, so that part of the fluff will be emphasised everywhere I can. Hence the name, Captain Amerikka's Striking Swords.

I dont recomend bits and kits as i did an order last monday and nothing has arrived.

Haha, not really. My mother stashed a bunch of my stuff in the garage when I went away to college. Only re-discovered them recently

A bit of fluff: When Dark Avenger Space Marines are deemed worthy to join the 1st Company, there is a "Bloodening" ceremony, during which the right arm of the Space Marine is cut with a ceremonial blade. It is traditional afterwards for the newly initiated 1st Company Marine to incorporate the ceremonial blade into his armor somewhere. Hence the Marines of the 1st Company (and the command squads of the other companys which are invariably drawn from the 1st Company) have become known as the Blade Brothers.
