So here is what I'm thinking, let me know if it will just suck terribly(I've never played 40k, just fantasy for over 10 years now).

Librarian w/ combi-melta
115

1 Dreadnought w/ MM CCW heavy flamer, Drop pod w/ Locator beacon
160

1 Dreadnought w/ MM CCW heavy flamer, drop pod
150

7 Sternguard Veterans w/ combi-meltas, drop pod
245

10 Tacitcal Marines w/ MM, flamer, Rhino
205

10 Tactical Marines w/ MM, flamer, Rhino
205

10 Tactical Marines w/ Lascannon, flamer, Rhino
215

4(2x2) Landspeeders w/ MM Heavy flamer
280

2x Predator w/ autocannon, heavy bolters
170

Total 1745

To bump it to 1850 I planned on beefing up the librarian and sternguard.

General idea is Librarian joins sternguard, turn 1 a Dread dops w/ locator beacon, then depending on enemy I drop either the other dread or the sternguard. The rest is fairly straightforward.

I'm not 100% on the lascannon, and was considering swapping it out for a heavy bolter.

Since special characters do not require specific chapters anymore, Id suggest taking cato sicarius, marneus, or a chapter master/captain. They all are pretty good and have, in my opinion, better abilities/rules/stats for not too much more points.

also I would high recommend taking at least 5 terminators. they are extremely effective and the best infantry of SM. Dreadnoughts are great but they can drop very quicky(4s to pen with a las cannon),Termis have great armour save and a nice invul save. can punch through most infantry and vehicles with eas with powerfists/chainfists too.

Also you might try one less tac squad unless you're planning to fill your army to 2k pts.

IMO autocannon is not good. tri lascannon, or lascannon turret w/ heavybolters is better. gives your predators some anti armour ability(rerolls for the twinlinked lascanoon is great too) but doesnt sacrifice anti horde ability. Also you might try using magnets to simply swap out depending on what you're fighting.

I think it looks pretty good.

Maybe take your speeders in 3 units 2-1-1 so you can put presure on one more unit or vehicle.

Kepp those predators as they are you have enough antitank as it is those las/hb preds are confused what they wanna do.

Dont add a special character then you will lose one of your most powerful tools and that is to flee from combat with your infantry.

What an insightful comment....

Anyway, while making minor adjustments (Im not fond of the suicide dreads, but some people seem to like them) I would drop the locator becon and swap the dakka preds for 2 Typhoon speeders, 4 kraks will have a good chance of downing any transport and 4 frags will thin out any horde while as the predator only can do horde control.

Remember that the locator becon only work when its on the table at the start of the turn. So it will not work when you do your drop pod assaults.

Special characters require a list built around them don't take one in this list. Looks pretty colide with good anti-tank. However I feel you are a little light in 2 areas, anti-tranport and anti-horde.

What powers do you intend to give to the Libby? Gate + Libby plus Sternguard with heavy flamers, amd combiflamers is awesome death to hordes. Not conviced the combi-melta is worth it on the libby. I'd swap a few combi-meltas for combi-flamers and seriously consider some HFs, I'd still keep 3 combi-meltas in the squad as a fall back though. Terminators in this list are also a bad idea. Not worth dropping the sternguard for and you need 2 dreads.

I'm not a huge fan of the dakka pred though it is far better than anything involving the Lascannon turrent 60 points for 1 Lascannon shot?!?! No thanks. To be honest for horde control the TFC or whirlwind are better, or heavy infantry the Vindicator is better whilst the las-sponson pred is the king of popping transportsat only 120 points. So I'd advise swapping out the preds for the AC/LC pred for taking down transports and light vehicles or swap them out entirely for TFCs or Whirlwinds for anti-horde.

Depends what you want them to do. If you are throw HF and combi-flamers into the sternguard they are the best anti-horde unti in the game so I'd go with AC/LC preds for taking out transports so your sternguard can get at the gooey contents. Obviously if you are keeping al the melta in the army you can just go down the TFC or Whirlwind route for better anti-horde.

To fund these changes I'd drop a LS and making the 3 into squads of 1. That gives you 70 points to play with, wel 85 with eth combi-melta on the libby.

But will work if you are gating around your sternguard with the libby...

What powers you taking on the librarian? The librarian generally tends to be unit support so I'm not sure if the combi melta is required. A storm shield would definately be a benefit to have a better save, if you have the points.

Drop podding dreadnoughts are good but you only have 2 pods. This means one pod will come down and the other when you roll for it. This will leave one pod weak and without support. For a drop pod to work you really need drop pods through out the army so you get the bulk in first and then the others afterwards. Problem is lack of transport then.

Other than that sound list.

While I don't mind suicide units, what you should do is get two more drop pods for the tacticals. That way you can have both dreads and the sternguard hitting the table at the same time. Now their are not suicide units but an Alpha Strike list. Tacticals benefit from coming late cause they can contest objectives. Also if you opponent does what just about everyone does to counter a Drop Pod list which is to reserve everything, you can drop your tacticals on the objectives first off and then have your Dreads and Stern come in later.

I've found that the best powers for the Librarian are Null Zone and Avenger. Gate of Infinity is good but more situational. Drop the combi-melta tho, stick to the Bolt pistol so you can get that extra attack with your Focus weapon.

Just one thing on the objectives, you might not be able to drop the tactical on the objectives. Any smart opponent would put the objectives in terrain. The drop pod is forced to miss it and will move away. Though the tacticals would be close and would still run onto the objective...it all depends on scatter at the end of the day.

You can drop into terrain, you can't drop into impassible terrain. If you land in difficult terrain it counts as dangerous, so on a one you get a weapon destroyed... not a big deal
