So these are the first stages assembled. The reason their hands are the way they are is because i am going to make them holding chains. Still have to add accessories to their kits on the wolves such as bolters and knives. I welcome your comments.

Whoa, those look great!! Where did you get the wolves?

My only real critique is that the wolves look very similar, they could do with some differentiation, but that's a very minor quip.

Yeah what ADG said. I think there are only two variations of wolves in there.

There is actually only on.e ive started to vary the poses but have only done all their tails and the mouth (on one so far). I wanted to get the poses of the SW riding them first so i can adjust the wolves poses to suit them more. As for where i got them they are on ebay 12 dollars each. Comes with one wolf and a set of riding legs. A little company in russia makes them. search for Monstrous riding wolf on ebay and you should find it.

I've seen and considered those but the lack of variety put me off. I'll have to reconsider my stance because they look great as a unit !!!

Yeah that kinda put me off buying them right when i saw them. I had to ask the seller if there were differant poses available. But in the end they are great sculpts and green stuffing is part of the hobby anyway so i hopped on these guys. Great scale excellent detail and not bigger than canis so yay!! Actually thinking about getting rid of the wolf helms. They look kinda big and clunky.

Where did you get the wolves? They look awesome!

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

They look about as good as "marines riding wolves" can be expected to look. You have done a good job representing a very silly unit concept...

Don't know how to link an E-Bay page but put "Space Thunder, Monstrous Riding Wolf, of Wolves" in the search box and it will come up.

I think these look better than the one model put out by GW. Still a silly idea, but this is a fictional universe, after all

Nicely executed! I'd also like to see if you could vary up the wolves poses, though. Just turning their heads / tails would help if those are the only easily adjusted parts.

If you're in the US, places like Michael's Arts and Crafts, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, etc. all carry chain in the crafts section (near the beads, etc.)

They have all thicknesses and types. You could check there.

I'm liking these a lot, especially the one that's barely in the saddle as he leans over to swing his chainsword.

Thats my favorite pose as well. Im going to try and make the others as dynamic with the wolves poses.

These models are great. And 12 dollars is less than youde pay for Most GW models anyway. All you need is a torso arms shoulder pads a head and backpack. And what SW player doesnt have those bits lying around anyway. lol.

Space Bears

would SW's on bears be okay- yeah I know they are riding wolves because they are Space Wolves, but if they were going into battle on armoured Ursus Maritimuses that would be fierce

okay so I read Northern Lights already, the Wolves there look cool btw - I just like bears
sorry

As an option for chain if you can't get any suitable, what about picture frame wire. It is like a small brass cable that Military modellers use for tank towing cables- just a thought.

You could definitly take bears and use them as count as. That would be a neat little twist on a wierd unit.
