Hi, this is my first Battle Report, between my new Dark Elves and my friends Lizardmen. I have no pictures (better for me, my army isn`t painted yet, but his army is gorgeous, too bad i didn`t have a camera).
Anyways, here we go:

My army

LvL 2 Sorceress
Sacrifical Dagger (that i forgot), and Extra Spell Thingy

Assasin (he was in my X-Bow unit which never got to hand to hand, so i won`t mention him).

12 Spearmen (Sorceress in here)
Shields, FC

16 X-Bow guys

20 Corsairs
FC, Banner of Frenzy, 2xHW

5 Cold One Knights
Warbanner

His army
Skink Chief on Ancient Stegadon

Scar Vet
Shield and Light Armour

5x4 block of Saurus
Spear, FC

2x12 Skinks
1 with blowpipes

Salamander

Set-Up
Left to right: The board was 6x4, with an evil sheep with walls around it, a wood in his dep-zone, a ruin on the middle, a hill in the middle of my dep-zone, and a long hegde next to the hill.

Deployment
Left to right: He deployed his shield skinks in the woods, which mirrored my spearblock, then his stegadon which mirrored the hill, where i put my X-bow guys (and gals). Next to the Stegadon were his Saurus block, staring down my corsairs. The corsairs stood nekt to the hegde, and on the other side of the hegde were my Cold Ones, who stared at the ruin a foot in front of them. Behind that were his salamanders who stood next to his pipe-skinks. I beat his 2 with a 4 and got to start. My Sorceress got Chill Wind, number 2 and Soul Stealer.

Turn 1
We both moved forward, no-one was in range of anything.

Turn 2
Me:
My Cold Ones charged the Skinks on the right. They dedicided to stand and shoot. 24 shots, 20 hits, 5 hits(!), and no harm! Puh! My Corsairs charged his Saurus warriors. My Sorceress failed power of darkness, but Soul Stealer got through, and killed half the shield Skinks. They held. Madame Mim had 4 wounds now. My X-Bow guys shot his stegadon, got 25 hits and 4 Wounds (!). He saved 3 of them. 1 down, 4 to go My Cold Ones Knights killed all but two Skinks, who ran. Great, right out of position
I forgot hatred with my Corsairs, and they were beaten out of their Frenzy.

Him:
His Stegadon charged my spearmen, his Salamander moved towards my the rear of my Knights. His Stegadon shot my Knights, and did 3 wounds. Just as i were about to throw saves, he said " Wait, i have to roll artillery dice to check range!" "Well, you already wounded 3, just roll and check if you get Misfire." He got Misfire, and one Handler were eaten. Ouch. But that was honeycake compared to his Stegadon. His Chief fluffed all his attacks, his Stegadon whiffed all his attacks, and the other Skinks were just Skinks, so of course they whiffed. My Spearmen attacked back, killing all the Skinks, he failed his Stubborn LD test, and ran. Of Course I ran him down. His Saurus won combat against my Corsairs and ran them down. Right into X-Bow short range. Sweet

Turn 3
Me: My Spearelves turned their rear against the Shield Skinks, facing the Saurus` flank. My Cold Ones turned around and charged the Salamander. My Sorceress git Power of Darkness and 2 extra Power Dice. I Blew 3 on Number 2 spell (whatever it`s called), and the dispelled it with his 2 dice. I used my last power dice on Soul Stealer and killed 3 saurus. They were now down to 14 after the long fight with the Corsairs. I unleashed the full power of the X-Bows, and killed another 9 (!), leaving the front rank. My Cold One Knights took 6 wounds of the Salamander. He wasn`t sure if I would hit the handlers or Salamander, but with 6 str 6 wounds he just removed them all. My Cold One Knights overran into the remaining Saurus and killed all but the Scar Vet. The Cold Ones did their job and ate him.

Him: All he had left were 6 skinks with shields, whom he charged into the rear of the spearmen. The skinks missed with all their attacks, and were all killed but two. They promptly turned around and fleed, but was caught. Game Over.

Afterthoughts: Well, my plan didn`t work, I were too lucky! Especially my magic, shooting and Spearmen. That poor Stegadon. My original plan was to charge the Skinks with Pipes and kill them all with my Cold Ones (which I later realized was impossible with 11 attacks), overrun into the salamander, and overrun into the rear of either the stegadon or saurus. My Corsairs were supposed to drag the Saurus out of position so i could shoot them down (that worked). That was pretty much it.

Men (and women) of the match were my Cold One Knights and the Sorceress. I know, i know, the Spearmen would be a natural choice, but they were just lucky. The Sorceress`kill-count were 12 Skinks, 3 saurus and something else (I can recall her killing something big, but i can`t remember what).

The Cold Ones were just crazy. I mean, 6 WS 5 Str 6 hits on the charge, plus the Cold Ones 5 WS4 Str 4 hits! Favourite unit by far. They killed: 12 skinks, 1 salamander, 2 handlers, 4 saurus and a Scar Vet in 3 turns. The combats usually went down like this: "Oh, 2 hits." Re-Roll for Hatred: "Oh, 6 hits." Rolls for wounds: "Sweet, 5 wounds! Then the Cold Ones. Oh 2 hits. Luckily i can re-roll because of hatred..." That really pissed my friend off.

I don`t think i will use the Corsairs much more. They deliver a flurry of attacks, but str 3 is just... And with 5+ save too, i will rather spend my points on more warriors.

Thanks for reading, i hope you enjoyed it. I know i did
Cheers!

On the perfumed wind

You were lucky his Chief wasn't carrying a warspear. That would have meant a whole lot of impact hits on the charge and probably would have broke your spears. Or did he even fluff impact?

My understanding is that corsairs are indeed suboptimal. I think they can combo up nicely with the Frenzy banner and a cauldron giving them killing blow, but other than that, I don't tend to see them in competitive builds.

Thanks for the batrep.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

He had a Staff of the Lost Sun, but no, he didn`t fluff impact hits, he never used it. Now that i think of it, that`s kinda off, but maybe he forgot.
Cheers!
