Ok so I was given a cool semi for xmas, with the thoughts that I would make it into some kind of Ork doomsday weapon. And my wife was right.
So now that its getting closer to warmer weather(and I work better in fresh air) I took some pics of the semi, and now want to have the DAKKA think tank help me out with ideas. Im wanting it to be the designated deff rolla BW, but other then that Im REALLY open for ideas. Ill have to shop the top off, and bring the rear wheels in, then it will be pretty much the same size of the standard BW. Anywho, here are pics of the truck, and some next to my BW.

That would be one big pain crashing through your lines and spilling out a semi full of orks. You should do what I do when starting off an ork project. Just go for it ! No plans needed. Just lots of armor plates guns , glyphs and millions of rivets.

Well I dont like to plan out every minute detail, normally I get an idea and then go crazy. I am also planning on writting up some rules on turning that trailor section into a giant gun platform. Think like a super battlewagon, with a crap ton of guns and skorchas and the like. Im mainly wanting people to say hey try this or you know what would look cool. That sort of thing

I think this will make a great BW.

I think I am getting too many ideas to formulate anything of value to you right now. Bigmek over load.

Just shave off some parts, GS some parts, and add armor plates. BOOM: Orks!

I'd shorten the wheelbase by bringing the rear wheels in.
Chop off the roof (who needs aerodynamics! Paint it RED!) and make a gun platform for any bolt on Big shootas, rokkits, etc.
Raise the cab. Losing the roof takes away some height, raising the cab 1/2" to 3/4" would bring back a more aggressive profile.
Huge exhausts!
Build an open deck on the back, similar to the GW BW, to show troop capacity, and open-topped WYSIWYG

Teek - Alot of what you suggested is right down the same path I was thinking. I didnt think about adding some plates to the back for a crew cab though. That looks better then what I was thinking, just leaving it open. I also am going to square up the front clip of truck, simply because all those rounded edges make the Ork in me sick.

BigMek overload indeed lol, but thanks so far guys. Im wanting to build a deffrolla that isnt a typical "deff rolla" But Im drawing blanks. Ive thought of possibly a bunch of buzz saws and maybe a hedge trimmer type contraption all together. The way I see it in my head, it would be alot of crazy death, which is totally Orky imo.

I say make the deff rolla like a tunneling machine almost with three big spiky gear like wheals set up in a triangle type formation.

Ive always wanted to do this and think it would work perfect on this... but if you did the deff rolla sort of like a saw mill (without the saw and with a deff rolla of coarse!) with like a platform going diagnally up and some kind of mechanise to pull things up into the rolla it would look totally brutal... Id love to see a gaurdsmen being scooped up and just looking at his terrified face as he realizes he about to become a hole punched pancake... yummy
