I have always hated the bloodthirster pose. I wanted to run two of them in my khorne daemon army, and could not stand the thought of having two of these huge models on the field looking exactly the same. So i grabbed my hobby saw, took a deep breath, and started to cut my $50 model up.

The first is a very WIP model. The idea is to have him tearing a SMs arm off. The pole will eventually get a pretty large and mean looking axe blade. I want to GS gaunlets on both wrists, and perhaps some sort of helm/crown thing to connect the horns. BTW they are level, just look off from the pics.

The second bloodthirster is almost done, just need to get motivated to finish painting him. Im really looking for input on what colors to do the axe handles in. I dont really want to do boltgun because i think it would get washed in the body armor, any thoughts?

Any suggestions on what i should add, or reposition or change the first bloodthirster?

Hard to make the marine out... will you be building the ground up underneath him or will he continue to be "floating" and rigid? (Kinda what DG had to say) Also the arm looks far too long how you have separated it, it almost looks as long at the marines body, is it being squished pencil thin like when you roll out putty?

@DG
the stump will indeed be meaty and bloody, have no fear

@Flippa
Im still not sure how to handle the positioning of the marine. Depending on how you put the head on it look like he is A) dead or B) alive and struggling to get up off the ground

As for the arm thing, in the pic i just stuck in on there with white tac so that people could get an idea of what i was shooting for with the overall model. i have been working on it and the arm looks normal, its a few mm longer than one that is not cut up.

For the axes, you could go with heat anodised metal, like this image. Stomp posted on BoLS

It would be an unusual look but one quite fitting for a bloodthister that, in my mind, tends to be from a very hot realm and is constantly quenching its weapons in enemy blood.

And I think the injured marine attempting to rise would be best. Lots of people do dead marines. One demonstrating their ability to keep trying even in the face of total destruction is a nice change, and something I think Khorne would approve of (then immediately kill them, but never surrendering and still attacking when one has nothing left to give but their life is a theme he embodies).
