Hi All,
My first time posting a pic, so try not to be too brutal

This guy is one of my squad leaders in my Alpha Legion Mercenary army, basically a warband led by Alpha Legionaires to forfil a particular mission that I have yet to think of....

I love that face and you've got some great effects going on on the armour. I also think that base looks great understated and without drawing too much attention away from the model. My only slight criticism is that the armour is all a bit uniform in colour, it could use a little more detail picking out in other colours just to break things up a bit. Other than that, awesome.

The face is excellent, but I think the hair is a bit off - a bit flat and an odd colour by comparison

Nice mini, like the work on the shoulder pad. Great to see another Flashman on the boards as well Hopefully it won't get too confusing.

Thanks very much for the comments. The armour is very simple (the colour scheme was designed to be quick). It's chainmail, with some bits picked out in shining gold or hawk turquoise then washed with badab black and then asurmen blue, the bolt pistol and melta bomb (if it is a melta bomb?) with devlan mud.

lol. He's actually Alpha Legion, its the rest of his squad who are the 'mercenaries'. I will try and come up with some decent fluff, 'Beta Legion' maybe?

Because everyone expects mercenaries to be moving about constantly and it isn't suspicious for them to ask for information relating to the warzone they're entering. It's also not too hard to find a chance to slip off briefly to do something else either...

(Not sure exactly what that was about but, whatever!)

Alpha Legion operatives are certainly more likely to be off about their "own" business, so this model certainly has a nice 'story' behind it!

Nice - I like the metallic/blue thing. I would do the hoses in a different color were it mine, and would paint the studs on the forehead metallic instead of flesh, but otherwise nicely done!

The best source outside of LEGION was the Index Astarted article from a few years back...

It is definitely well within their theme to have squads or individuals out doing their own thing for a long, long time.

Remember, independent thinking was not only taught, but encouraged for the Legion!

Very good model, chaos space marines can do pretty much as they chose so i wouldnt worry to much about the story. if youve ever read any 40k novels from black library you will find that many have one or two chaos marines leading a renegade imperial force e.g. Gaunts Ghosts by Dan Abnet or Ciaphas Cain

This is great! I agree about the hair though. Make it gray: he is a 10,000 year old Chaos marine, remember! Other than that, great job on this guy.

EDIT: Yes, also do the studs a metal color.

The studs are boltgun metal and chainmail, the camera has failed me on that feature

As for the hair, he uses 'Just for CSM's'....

^LOL! I personally like my models more with a 'Sexy SoB's' hair coloring.
