Imagine my surprise when I arrived home from tutoring to find a large brown box on my place at the table.
My father told me to open it up. I complied. And to my joy, found a codex and two IG battleforces.
My father and are splitting the battleforces, and sharing the codex.
We also found a nice present, of Mike and Ike's. My mother enjoyed them.
Thanks to miniwargaming.com, and to dakkadakka, I will begin updating with progress of both my work and my father's work.

It might take a while, as we need to pick up some good plastic glue, as well as the right paints.
But, you should (hopefully) be happy with work we do.
As for the stuff my dad does, I will outline them in different colors.

Thank you. My dad and I plan on spending at least a night a week to model together, and when we've painted and assembled them, we'll face off and see who wins.

The funniest part, in my opinion, is the Mike & Ikes sitting on the top.
But yeah. I'll be watching this space. Don't let me down GES I'll have to start getting my stuff in shape to start painting/assembling.

Yeah, we're gonna use the candy bag as our color scheme. We're gonna have Mike Company and Ike Company.

Very small update, but an update none the less. Clipped out the figures and pieces from the Sentinel and Command Squad sprues, and finished reading the Codex.
Still won't be able to glue any of them together till we pick up some good glues.

My dad and I have decided on colors.
Now, his color scheme is that of an urban based army, using lots of greys, blacks, and some blues to disguise his units.
My color scheme will be grey, white, and blue as an accent.
He hasn't come up with a back story for his Guard, but I have done some work for mine.
The Chairo 667th Scout Regiment was raised on the planetoid of Jericho's Reach, an agri and artic world.
Eight Terran months of the year, the planet is bathed in ice and snow, due to an erratic orbit around it's planet and sun.
During the other four months of the year, the ice and snow melt and flood large swathes of land, making for fertile farming areas, allowing the occupants to meet their tithes.
During the winter months, the vast majority citizens flee to large cities built underground, close to the plantoid's core to absorb heat. It is during these months that their PDF and Imperial Guard regiments are trained.
Tommorow he'll be picking up glue, and possibly paints.

Make sure he gets a good brushed on plastic cement
like testor or tamiya. I think its the #1 overlooked but most important item to plastic kits.

The Bits Bin Part One: The top section holds all my misc bits, while the bottom holds my Command Squad bits.
Bits Bin Part Two: Top section is my heavy weapon squads, bottom is my Sentinel.
A partially completed Scout Squad and a pratially completed Infantry squad.
Some terrain I'm working on.
I have assembled the bodies of my Infantry commander, my medic, and my vox caster for the command squad.
More pics to come. Automatically Appended Next Post:
My infantry commander. I haven't decided his loadout yet, though I'm leaning towards bolt pistol and chainsword.
The vox caster.
The pic is fuzzy, but it's my medic.

Yeah i kinda expected that to happen., LOL.
Serious Question:
I've glued my pilot to his command chair, but i haven't added the walls to the cockpit yet.
Should I leave it that way for when I paint?

You might still be able to pull the pilot out of the cockpit , did you try giving it a little tug?

Are you doing the cockpit as an Armageddon style or Cadian style?
If doing the first--don't worry about it. You won't see the pilot anyways. I just skip adding the pilots in on Armageddon styled fully enclosed ones.
If the second, you won't have to worry that much either. Not much gets obscured that you can't reach with a brush, just paint the pilot AFTER the rest of the cockpit.

My father and I did the same thing when I was younger. We played a few games then he decided to move on to other things(he has a habit of that). I ended up with a fully painted 3000+ point Catachan army that way.

The vox caster and commander.
I tried to position the commander in a way that makes it look like he's surveying the battlefield, same as the vox caster, hence the way the las gun is set.
I also used a regular sergeant's head and chainsword from the infantry squads for the commander, as I like the way they look then the other heads on the sprue.
The medic. I used the commander arm with a swagger stick, but clipped off the stick portions, so it looks like he's examining a syringe or possibly balling his fist.

Well, if you have an analogue for a lasgun, try doing that same pose.
You're going to cradle the gun from below, even with a sling. You wouldn't be holding onto the top.
And the vox-operator's hand that goes over where the vox-link is just doesn't look...'right' where it is. I can't really explain it, but the finger placement just looks off.
But still. 'Rightness' or not, they're coming along nicely. Don't mind my silly critiques

Kanluwen wrote:Well, if you have an analogue for a lasgun, try doing that same pose. I have, and I understand the critiscm for that pose. because of it. however, I'll try and rationlize it. he prolly just shucked it over his shoulder a second ago, and therefore hasn't moved his hand down yet. Kanluwen wrote:You're going to cradle the gun from below, even with a sling. You wouldn't be holding onto the top. Good point. However, my conversion skills are still pretty crappy, so i didn't want to try and model the hand lower, so I left it as is. Kanluwen wrote:And the vox-operator's hand that goes over where the vox-link is just doesn't look...'right' where it is. I can't really explain it, but the finger placement just looks off. I like to think it looks like he's flippin an enemy the bird. Kanluwen wrote:But still. 'Rightness' or not, they're coming along nicely. Don't mind my silly critiques Thank you. Nice to have encouragement. I will also try and make them look "right" from now on, just for you. A small update. I have completed the banner bearer, and am happy with the work for now, though I might replace or shorten the right arm, as it looks a bit long in comparison to the left arm. Also, completed a sergeant conversion for my first infantry squad. I have taken the sentinel pilot head with a bandana and mohawk and the dislocated arm, and I think the pose says "It's just a flesh wound!" My dad hasn't gotten a chance to get his models started yet, though he plans on doing so when the wheather gets nice and warm out. @sonofruss: Yup. Real men use tool boxes, not army cases. I was also looking at the sentinel bits, and noticed the armor piece with an aquila on it. I like the way it looks, almost like a shield, and am thinking of glueing it on my commanders arm, just to give him a little somethin etra. Thoughts on that?
