New reaper previews are up.

I like what Bobby Jackson is doing with his Dark Elves.

Dr. Totenkranz looks like a good 40K AdMech guy.

Not a bad batch, some uber-random things, a handful of elves, a surprising number of girls-with-guns and then your usual selection of fantastical monsters and menfolk. Some standouts for me:

Pirate vs Sea Monster - Honestly a pretty cool little vignette, tentacles ftw

Rumscratch, Dwarf Wereshark - Not making that up

Bathalian Primarch - More bigger cthulu-nids (also, more tentacles)

Dr. Totenkranz - Neat to see more, weirder sci-fi stuff from Reaper, though their 'flight stand' is a bit sad

Murder of Crows - Mostly here for the name

Kid Kyoto Himself - Here seen playing a stereotypical Chinese villian

I would liked to have put up some of the chicks-with-guns, but none really do much for me. Some are real close to being good, yet don't quite make it. YMMV.

Oh crap! Watch out for the monkey paw! The shark guy needs a small remora fish henchman carrying some loot too.

Great facial detail on that elf sorceress and the pirate fighting the sea monster. I also like the pointy hooded elf a bit.

I'm liking some of that but I just have to pick on Reaper a bit here, mostly cause they're normally pretty good about names.

But naming the Evil Warrior Castrus Vile(no the)? They may as well have named him Evil McEvilguy. Does anyone know if whoever named this one used to work in the GW design studio?

I love Reaper but there don't seem to be many UK suppliers, it's a bit of a drag shipping from abroad.

They offer free international shipping if you send over £35. Pretty easy to do if you get a few mates together on one order.

To me Reaper is an ok mini company. Some of their sculps are good and others are just not. There are a few sculpers there that should Never do anything with a human face.

That dark elf champion just screams anime!

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Free to the UK? That's pretty good, not hard to make up £35 if you get several items.

Winner! Not just a wereshark, not just a pirate wereshark, but a pirate dwarf wereshark. With a peg lag AND a hook. If only it had an eye patch, I'd write a codex based around it.

If these aren't terribly pricey, they could make decent Harpy substitutes.

Some nice looking models just a quick question though can you paint these just like how you paint GW's models? Or is there some process I should know about before ordering any?

No, they are metal just like GW and most other manufacturers.

It's awfully close.

One thing about that helmet is that you could certainly say it's anime-inspired, but look at the original Dark Elf helmets, they're pretty similar.

That's my understanding, My mates and I are clubbing together to put in an order at the end of next month.

I'd never thought of the design similarities between old school GW Dark Elves and the current Reaper releases! I'm quite liking them so far, but they do have a certain overblown style. And very crazy cloaks.

I'd love to see some more weresharks too! Here's hoping for another large-based one, or for a wild variety of sharkfolk.

GAH! I wish Reaper wasn't blocked at work... I am going to work myself into a frenzy of excitement before I can actually see the things, then be a little disappointed as they can't possibly be EXACTLY what I wanted.

I theorize that Reaper makes 10^21 girls with guns because I buy all of them. They should just call me up and ask what sort of models I would lust buy at the moment and whip them up quick.

The problem with Reaper is that I usually want every 2nd mini they release. The Pirate Dwarf Were-Shark is a must buy though.

There aren't too many minis that I look at and think "Wow, I can't really think of where in my army I'd use such a thing, but that looks so cool I might buy it anyway." That Pirate Dwarven Wereshark is one of those. Now when they come out with Pirate Ninjas riding on Mecha-Raptors I'd have to dedicate an army to them.

Along that same line of thought, I would really love if Reaper expanded upon that pointy/anime Dark Elf lord with more figures like it. I'd love to make a cyberpunk Dark Elf army, I think that would be pretty sweet.

Wow, the Dr. Totenkranz would make a great Inq or rebel Planetary Govenor for Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader.

And the Dwarf Were-shark Pirate is pure awesome.

Who said I didn't have an army for them? I have a Pirate themed Ogre army and this guy will work perfectly in a unit of Gnoblar Trappers.

I meant more along the lines of me, personally. I don't have an army that this would fit into, but it's just so awesome I almost want to buy it anyway. It's even more awesome if you have an army to put it in, as you clearly do!

Anyone got any scale comparrisons? (for Reaper in general I mean.)

I like Nightslip for example, but would want to remove the guns and replace with GW pistols for Necromunda.

There also seem to be other figs with some Necromunda/Mordheim potential, if they are not tiny next to normal GW figs.

They are more true scale so they are thinner and longer than GW models, but with a weapon swap for "hero scale" weapons they fit in fine.
