Dream Pod 9 has just released a bunch of new miniatures as wll as a new book:

Everything can be ordered from the Dream Pod 9 Online Store or other retailers.

First up is Terra Nova Gambit - The War for Terra Nova Book 2

Dream Pod 9 is offering a special deal for preorders of this book. If you order now, you will receive the book when it ships (scheduled for April 16th) as well as receiving the PDF of Terra Nova Gambit immediately. Please make sure your order is from the same email as any DriveThru RPG account you may have (Or there is a note to tell us which one to use) as the guys will send you a copy through DTRPG. Preorders may take some time to process and send out the PDF. I said two business days, but it may take less than that.

The preorder special is $40 for the PDF and book. The regular book will be $30 for a full-color book.

(The book doesn't have the banner on the cover. )

Next up are the forces of Utopia:

The Commando Armiger Two Pack:

($20.95)

The Recce Armiger Two Pack:

($20.95)

The Support Armiger Two Pack:

($29.95)

The Commando Drones Eight Pack:

($22.95)

The Recce/Trooper Drones Eight Pack:

No reason you can't that I know.

And, for the inevitable question: These are 1/150th scale, but might work somewhat in 28mm as they're relatively large-ish.

The background of the planet of Utopia is that they had a massive nuclear war years ago and the survivors live in deep bunkers. The war is still fought, primarily by drones led by pilots in the Armigers or other vehicles (including huge robotic tanks I hope will get tabletop rules some day).

The CEF conquered Utopia, and now they've been drafted to help retake Terra Nova, so the lighter stuff is being moved from planet to planet (one reason we haven't seen the gigantic tanks yet...) to aid in the invasion.

A lot of the Utopian Squads are some combination of an Armiger leading a squad of drones (the Armiger can essentially 'lend' it's skill to the drones, representing the pilot taking over from the normal on-board AI) in various configs: General purpose, recon, and fire support. There's also an option for drone-only squads that would be used for patrol where a human overseer isn't needed.

We should have parts pics of these up in a few days.

Once we get "Brushfire - Historia Rodentia" out, I can go back to buying minis

And I thought Heavy Gear was 1/144? (Not that it makes that much of a difference)

Just hearing them called Drones makes me want to see how big they are next to Tau stuff.

As a point of comparison, the hex bases are about the same size as a standard GW round base...

I think they'd look a bit 'fatter' than the GW Drones, and in-character they'd be pretty monstrous... Maybe 10 feet tall (in 1/150th scale) and armed with bigger guns than would generally be man portable, but still 'light' armaments if we're talking anti-tank weapons.

I need to grab my copy so I can see the stats... i haven't been able to keep an eye on the playtest docs, so they're new to me, despite being based on the older (90s era) Utopia stuff.

It looks like the PDF-only book "Operation: Drop Bears Dive!" is coming along well. It's interesting, as it's got a mix of Blitz! content and RPG stats and background.

Here's the cover:

That's actually the intended reference. Check out the patch in the upper-left of the cover.

(BTW, the patches are for sale by the creators.)

Here's a forum post with the info.

here's the patch:

(I've got one, and I think it looks a bit better in person.)

I think they may be 'between batches' right at the moment. The design was done as a non-DP9 project (I.E. someone making art for a friend) so even though it's part of an official book the patches aren't an official DP9 thing, although I wish we were selling them through the DP9 online store as well. :(

I should have parts pictures of the Drones and Armigers up by the end of the week or early next week. The guys can't take them until the parts come back from casting.

The decals are pretty tiny, and the original image I was sent wasn't much clearer, unfortunately. Most of the writing is tiny warning sins, so expect CAUTION and DANGER to be predominant. Keep in mind that they're intended for 1/144 mecha, so they're tiny.

I checked with the guys and the Drop Bear patches are effectively being done by a side company. The supply is OK, though, so if you want one, order them. I've got one and want to decorate my gaming bag with it and the Black Talon patch DP9 is selling.
