Hey all,
I've recently been working on a map based campaign creation system for my Gaming club, its based on the 1990 mighty empires rules.
This came about mainly due to my desire to be able to play a proper map based campaign, only on a galactic scale. When I posted the rules download on PR, it got no replies, so Lego advised me to come and promote it over here.
We're currently using Draft 2 of these rules at my gaming club, and its worked very well so far. The only problem being that as the entire rulebook is on loose sheets of paper, we have a small amount of difficulty finding pages when we need them.
These are just the rules needed to play the campaign, and in future editions I will add a Campaign map creation Guide and Space ship battle rules.
The original thread can be found here.
Please read the rules over and make any suggestions/corrections which you feel it needs. Don't spare the rod, as I need feedback to help me Improve it and Iron out any imbalances. Any people who I think have been especially helpful will get thier usernames added to the acknowledgements page in the final copy.
I'll attach the rules to this thread as well, for ease of access.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.
EDIT: Full rulesets added, parchment background version and blank background version.

This looks really good. It's well written as well. All that is needed is playtesting I suppose

I am playing these at my gaming club, but if anyone else wants to help playtest, then go ahead, if you do though, I want to hear how it got on.

Heya, I read it through once and it looks a lot of fun to me. The rules could do with a list of definitions or some summary, because for example, I still don't understand what ships do or what baggage points are for. Although perhaps I could find these out on a second reading.
Remarks and questions:
- p8 scouting: you can scout one hexagon per army? This isn't clear from the wording, it could also be that you can scout any hex, ie all that border on your army.
- you mention "Each Army in the Force Loses D6x50 troops as they desert the army". Can these only be subtracted from the Troops choices? or is it simply d6x50 points from any FoC slot?
- "At any point during a battle after the 2nd Turn, the attackers may turn round and attempt to exit the table, this counts as a loss." Very smart rule, we're playing a campaign right now where this rule is not in effect and this can lead to frustrating turns 4/5/6/7.
- Can an attacker choose to siege without assaulting? So he simply tries to starve the planet he's besieging.
- I don't know what an RP is?

Are you allowed to combine armies to create larger armies?

Thanks for replying! @Shrubs: 1) You can scout one bordering hexagon per scouting phase per army. If you have two armies in a force, you can scout two bordering hexes. 2) Losses can be subtracted from any FO slot, as long as you remove indervidual models, and not just wargear/upgrades. You can however include the cost of the upgrades in the point subtraction. 3) Thank you, I added this rule because it meant armies could survive for longer, rather than just getting anihalated every battle. 4) Yes, although this might take a while, and the enemy can choose to assualt out during thier move phase. (a normal game would be played however) 5) RP stands for Resource Point, these are money that can be traded with other players, or used to purchase new units/baggage during the Diplomacy Phase. @BeRzErKeR Yes, although they must each stay within the 500-1500 points limit. A group of armies on the same tile is refered to as a force. Each army in the force may act independently of the other, and each consume a single Subsistence point per turn.

Let me clarify.
In your rules for Forces, essentially only a single army may act at a time, but the whole Force is bound by the result. So if you have a Force comprised of, say, 4 500-point armies, and you besiege a Forge World with an 800-point garrison army, you would seem to be forced to fight a game a Planetstrike where your 500 points opposes the enemy's 800 points, putting you at a massive disadvantage. And if you lose, the whole Force retreats.
So could you, in that situation, combine two 500-point armies into a single 1000-point army, assuming you could do so within the restrictions of a single FOC?

Yes, you could, You may move baggage, units and ships around during the reorganisation phase.

Yes, this is correct, except for the scouting phase. I ommited this from the current rules, but if you have two armies in a force, you can potentially scout two different hexes, and then split your forces into the two armies. Alternatively, you could only move one army, etc. This will be included in the next update when I have time to add everything in.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I missed this out earlier, sorry:
@ Shrubs:
Ships will be explained more in the Ship Battles addition when I get round to finishing it. Basically, they are used for crossing the void between systems (we assume they are warp drive equipped), and can provide bonuses to seigeing.
Baggage Points are the same as subsistence points, they represent food and supplies carried by the army. If an army cannot subsist off of a planet, or is in space, they use Baggage points to feed themselves. If they do not have any baggage points and cannot subsist they will probably start to starve.

UPDATE:
Spaceship Battle rules now available to download as a seperate file.
These rules are VERY VERY simplified, and probably incomplete, so any suggestions on balance, or on special rules is extremely welcome.
I will combine all the various files once I have finished everything to an acceptable standard. For now though, they are in seperate files for ease of access.

SEMI_UPDATE: I've almost finished putting together the whole lot into a single PDF, but I'm having real difficulty making the ship counters. If there's anyone out there on Dakka who can draw a decent looking capital ship for each army, as well as a single small group of generic fighters, I'd be extremely grateful, and your username would go on the acknowledgements page. Thanks Dave EDIT: the ship counters need to be able to fit on top of a small 25mm round base.

This is a few years old now..
My buddies and I are going to be giving this a try. I am just at the stage where i glue the map to the bedroll. Have you created a v2 or any updates that have come about in the 7 years of play testing you have had since posting this?
Thanks for taking the time to do this back then mate.
