I'm trying to find a simple but nice paint scheme for my BFG fleet. Some of these will also be used in Rogue Trader RPG games...
But enough prattle. Here is the result of my first test (and the full write-up of the technique can be found at my blog: http://foxphoenix40k.blogspot.com/ )

Shiny!
It's simple but striking. Might be an idea also to put a few tiny dots of colour on the ships extremities, like lights flashing, to break up the main body, which is quite dark compared to the prow.

Thanks for the idea! I most definitely will do that. A few green and blue dots will definitely help break up the palette a bit.

Umm, do you really want an answer to this ?
The closest I came to BFG was making up the plans for a case that would fit my entire DH army in the shape of an assault ship that would both transport my troops and be a great addition to our apoc games, of cousre I soon realised how much it would cost and chose to buy more plastic crack instead.
That said I'm really impressed with how well you have painted such a small model, very nice!

I would suggest very lightly drybrushing Boltgun Metal on the black portion of the ship, just to give it some detail.

I did drybrush a bit of mithril silver on the back half, but it doesn't show very well from this angle, but I'll consider doing it heavier with the next one.
For people who think the rules for BFG are unnecessarily complicated, try this: buy the Rogue Trader RPG and go to www.DarkReign40k.com for some supplemental downloads on larger ships, and play using that system. It's how battlefleet gothic should have been.
