So i have decided to create my own chapter and simply use whichever IC i see fit(although i am sure to stick with Vulkan for sure.) I am stuck on a name I sort of want a Templar background based off of real word history, not sure yet. but the colors i am sticking with for sure. The picture's are a bit to.. eh not enough clear light i guess making my models look worse then they really do so i apologize. I do hope everyone enjoys. Oh, and the drop pod is my first attempt at battle damage and weathering so be kind lol.

You're not reading Brethren by any chance are you?
As for the mini's they look great, for the battle damage I would say add a little bit more to the ends of the ramps where they slam into the ground.
The marine is awesome love the movement you've given him. How exactly are you painting him though? I think he would benefit from some highlights on the red and some more shading on the white.
Name wise don't forget that the Black and White Templars come from IF stock so you could use something from their background too.

Well, back in the day there were orders like the Teutonic Order and the Knights Templar and such. Though I'm not sure there's a lot of options for a name, but that could be just me.
Models look nice, by the way.
One minor thing; If you use Vulkan as a model in your own chapter, you won't get his fancy rules and items, right? Vulkan is a really strong model, but if you can't use his statistics for a chapter master, I myself will probably not buy the model.

Thank you everyone for the comments and compliments. i hate these pics, as i have yet to figure out this damn camera. As far as Vulkan, yes i cans till take him. Lots of folks i know run DYI chapters and run whatever CM or Captain they want. I love the Salamander's but am sick of looking at the green, and if i buy another 4500 points of marines my wife will divorce me haha, so it's strip everything down and repaint it time. I really am leaning towards the Knights Templar. I think i am going to use Black Templar bodies for some of my veteran units and possibly Sergeants not to sure yet. I am still fiddling with the camera to get better pics. It drives me nuts because in person the models look beautiful but on screen their just..ugh.

I see what you mean with the classic temlar colours.
How about calling them Grail Knights or Battle Pilgrims (both stolen from the fantasy battle Brettonians I dont know the first thing about the black templar fluff, maybe they already call themself such names. Opus Dei, perhaps
Anyway, the model looks good. Good luck with the fluff, and the templar Vulkan.

You can if you just say your using salamanders rules for the army and the models are just miscolored salamanders.
I think.

@Arrathon, I just placed the mini in a very ramshackle light box black card for the floor, back and two sides.
@cosmic pixie, thanks for the compliment and I know what you mean about the patchiness but this was only ever really a test mini to map the colours and try out the technique. In the end I didn't go with this scheme because of time.

well after a good solid 9 and a half hours of gaming practice for a Tourney coming up, I do believe i have figured out their name, and the starts of their background story....
Keepers of the Chalice
Story so far...
They ARE the Knights Templar...The order has survived for all these millennium, Keeping the one item they have safe. The grail. (now, we all know how fluff is for the Imperium's back story and what they think of past religions and what not. So i went with the Christian religion, and the grail have over time faded and turned into the story i have thought of.)Eventually over the hundreds of thousands of years The story of the grail changes from what we know, into it being of the Chalice of the Emperor. This chapters sole purpose is to keep the chalice safe. They are based on Terra(possibly somewhere else) And they have such importance that when called upon, depending upon the situation, they can all upon other Chapter masters to help them IF that CM is available. This is just a super fast rough draft of my ideas i think i might start a blog here on Dakka about it. Hope you all enjoy my thoughts .

I really like that drop pod but, if I'm being honest with you... that paint scheme really REALY doesn't work for me.
I was checking out the pod, unaware that there was another image beneath it, and scrolled down to see what else was in the thread. When I saw that model, the first thing -literally- that popped into my head was, "Merry Christmas!"
Maybe it's just a matter of taste, but I'm really not liking the red & white together.

The red and white really don't look bad. I like the way you've done them.
(Okay... I just noticed the eyes are green. More LOL on the "Christmas" thing)
The only problem with this particular marine is his armpit. You can see where the color didn't make it up into the recesses.
Also, I'm wondering why the Pod is a different color.

The marine was and is a test paint. i see the Christmas thing now also, so the green eyes will go..more then likely I'll do blue. The Pod, and all the vehicles will have a White base and a large red Templar cross on it possibly, not sure yet. Mostly it's all white due to i was practicing doing battle dmg and weathering.

Just a suggestion...
Don't use white.
You can still do them as Red Templar. Just, instead of using white, duplicate the color you used on the Drop Pod (Space Wolf Gray?).
That gray with the red, plus keeping the green eyes, would hold onto your "Red" for the Red Templars, maintin your light/whitish color to offset the red, and let you use the green (which DOES look good with the red helm, IMO) and kill the Christmas look.
As a bonus, your troops will match your pods.
Just a thought.

@Em_en_oh_pee No there isn't any Metallic on the Marine itself.
@MagickaMemories I really don't like a All red marine. I don't want to do Red, black, or white Templar. My idea is they are The Knights templar, hence the white and red.. but after test painting my Pred.. i am second guessing white vehicles. I still like the way it looks, but it's just so damned hard to weather and get the "look" i want. and looking at my already painted Salamander army i'm starting to think..do i really want to strip these guys down and re paint them. Here is a test pic of two different versions of the same pread ((yes..i painted it.. messed up the large Cross badly and stripped it. doing a second attempt.)

The only thing I see wrong with the "all white" tank is that there is not enough going on. I don't know how much experimenting you want to do but adding a little to the back end or the sides might be enough to pull this off. Otherwise you have a good enough handle on the discoloration and damage.
The problem with your infantry pic seems to be the flash, the ambiant lighting (and the fact that it is still wet?) I personally like the look it has around the joints and armpit, it shows that the armor was white at one point but battle has dulled the regal appearance.

Sorry.
I must not have been clear.
I wasn't saying to do an all read marine. I was saying that, instead of using WHITE, you should use the color you did on the drop pod, which looks like more of a Space Wolves gray to me (from the pics).
I like the GIANT templar cross on the front of the tank.

Don't forget Templar iconography is not just Red and White, the mantles were for sure but only on the knights. sergeants would have worn a black of brown tunic. The actual banner for the Templar is a half black and half white field with the Templar cross at its centre in red.
http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/3900519/2/istockphoto_3900519-knights-templar-flag-xxl.jpg
This is my point why not use an halved or quatered pattern on the tank using the black and white motif and then add the large templar cross you have on the first test pred to that. Would be striking and would help tho break up the white of the tanks.
