Death-Dealing Ultramarine Devastator
|
Hi im Saltoric and this is my first proper thread.
I started Grey Ravens as me just painting one of my chaplains from my old blood angels, i then became so fond of him that i started an army of Space Marines which borrowed some of the pieces from my blood angels (who were all unpainted) to save money.
They are a Raven Guard succesor chaptor.
So in this blog i will update it on my progress.
Today i have 14 models of the army painted, unfortuantley my Chaplain is sitting in the cabnit of my GW after coming second in a painting competition (pureley because getting chipped while in the cabnit).
So today i will only show you 13 painted models.
So here is my Sniper Scout squad:
Front of squad -
Back of squad -
Sergeant -
And my 2 of 5 Assualt Marines (only ones painted):
Front -
Back -
Sergeant -
And my 6 of 10 Tactical Marines (1 more almost finsished):
Squad -
Bolters -
Multi-Melta -
Meltagun -
Sergeant front -
Sergeant back -
Comments welcome, please tell me how to improve

Three Color Minimum
|
Looks good. I like the scouts especially. The cloaks look beautiful front and back.
There is a distinct lack of colour though as the scheme seems to be Grey/Light Grey/Red and very little red at that. The issue isn't helped by the fact that in-between parts are metal which is a shiny grey. I would maybe add another colour here instead of the Light Grey of the Aquila and such before you have too many models painted. It's just my opinion but I think even painting the Aquila and hands white would be a great improvement and draw the eye nicely.
I really like the green purity seals. Its easy to forget that wax can be any colour you like. I'm now thinking of repainting mine from red to blue because my scheme also includes red and it makes the seals get overlooked.
Keep it up!

Yeh I thought that after i saw the pictures of my sergeant i'll test out making the Aquila white but im not going to make their hands white.
Also after i get some more painted im going to paint some ravens on their shoulder pads, any persific colour for them guys? I thought white, red or black would be obvious choices.

Not a fan of the multi melta. The camo cloaks are kinda non-camo (red) but they look good. I like the color scheme overall.

Yeh the multi-melta wasn't a fantastic conversion, and the camo cloaks were just for painting and only for friendlies so i don't think anyone will really care if their not very camoflage.

Personally I like the muted greys and reds, marines don't always have to look all bright and shiny they are soldiers after all not court jesters.
Keep up the good work!
