So I've got a fairly consistent core for a 2k list for an upcoming Indy GT.
I've been swapping out different units/options to see what I like or don't in the list, but with a limited pool of players to test against I can't be sure what will be the most effective units in a larger player base. I guess this is why you have a sideboard in Magic.
Anyways, here's the usual core:

Wolf Lord x1, Thunderwolf Mount, Runic Armor, Storm Shield, Frost Weapon, Saga of the Warrior Born

Fenrisian Wolves x 10 - Ablative wounds for the Wolf Lord, and more I:5 attacks with the Wolfkin Saga guy

Wolf Lord / Wolf Guard Battle Leader x1, Thunderwolf Mount, Runic Armor, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer, Saga of the wolfkin. - I run the lord with the other lord and the wolves, or I run the WGBL with the Thunderwolf Cav if I bring them.

Rune Priest x1, Chooser, Master of Runes, Storm Caller, Living Lightning - I run him with my Long fangs for the storm caller mainly. You can't always have terrain to hide them in.

Long Fangs x6, Missile Launcher x5

And then the troops:
Grey Hunters x6, Melta Gun, Power Weapon, MotW, Razorback w/ TL Hvy Bolter
Grey Hunters x6, Melta Gun, Power Weapon, MotW, Razorback w/ TL Hvy Bolter
Grey Hunters x6, Melta Gun, Power Weapon, MotW, Razorback w/ TL Assault Cannon
Grey Hunters x6, Melta Gun, Power Weapon, MotW, Razorback w/ TL Assault Cannon

And then the rest of the list is in flux.
The most recent Incarnation, which I've only played 1 game with but it performed well was to add:
Dreadnought x 1, TL AutoCannon, TL AutoCannon
Dreadnought x 1, nothing special, assault cannon/dread ccw
Wolf Scouts x 5, Sniper Rifle x4, Hvy Bolter x1
Thunderwolf Cav x2

My previous list included:
Wolf Priest x1 (no 2ndary lord/wgbl in this variation)
LRC x1, Multi-Melta
Thunderwolf Cav x3, SS x2, TH x1
Wolf Guard x 7, termies with various and assorted wolf claws, th/ss and powerfist/storm bolter
I haven't run this one yet, was still assembling the wolf guard when I created it.

Another prior list:
Took 2ndary Wolf Lord off the Thunderwolf and put him in:
LRC x1, Multi-Melta
and gave him:
Grey Hunters x10, Melta Gun, Power Weapon, MotW

Other units I've thought about swapping out/in:
Wolf Priest with saga of the hunter and CC armed Wolf Scouts.

Lone Wolf with Storm Shield, MotW and Fenrisian Wolves x2.

Looking for some new ideas and/or some feedback on the lists in general. I'm used to the old 1500 point lists for rogue trader tourneys. Never played in a 40k GT, and I haven't run any 2k lists until just recently. I understand the lists I will be facing will be competitive and I want to do well against them, but I don't want to sacrifice enjoyment for WAAC. My priorities for this GT is the same as for the fantasy GTs I used to attend:
1. Enjoy myself.
2. Drink with old friends and meet some new ones to drink with.
3. Play some great games of 40k.
4. Win.
And somewhere in there above 4 is introduce my fiance to the tourney scene (hopefully with an event full of good experiences and not game after game against various gaming groups 'that guy').
Thanks in advance for checking it out.

It would be good if you could include the total point cost and point costs for each unit but from what i can tell you need more ranged firepower. just 5 scouts a rifleman dread and a squad of long fangs isn't going to do too much. what are you going to do if the enemy takes lots of leman russ or even three preds?

I would suggest putting some lascannons in somewhere to deal with av 13 and maybe av 14 at long range because apart from throwing a wolf lord at it there is nearly nothing you can do to a monolith. Becuase meltas don't get 2d6 against them.

And might i suggest some larger squads to hold objectives.

Other than that it looks like a solid list to me and also looks like it could be awesome to play.

There's the list w/ points costs.
With Marines you kinda have to "Spam" as far as the troop choices go.
reg marines have scouts and tac squads, Wolves have Grey Hunters and Blood Claws.
I'm not a big fan of blood claws, aesthetically or tactically, so I opted for Grey Hunters.
I've had good luck with the 3 assault cannons in the list. Rending shots can pen on Land Raiders even, and I've got the meltas for heavy armor, but I see your point regarding being able to pop things from farther off. Hadn't considered Monoliths since we only have 2 necron players locally. 1 I've only played against in small-points battles and the other prefers bringing her c'tan to the party.
I can't fit larger squads in razorbacks. And I brought the razorbacks for the assault cannons/heavy bolters to help with horde armies. Are you suggesting I switch to Rhinos and bring the squads up to 10?
I like the sniper rifles, but I think I'm going to drop them for the boltpistol/ccw scouts and use them to come in on my opponent's board edge(hopefully).

Do you think it's worth it to upgrade the other dread (non-rifleman) to Las/Missile, or just give him Las and keep the dread ccw?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And Multi-Melta dreads? Do they ever live long enough to get close enough to roll the 2nd d6 on penetration?
I would think the MM would make him a huge target.

In case you haven't noticed, I like dreads.

Multi-Melta Dreadnoughts are rightly labeled as "suicide dreads", unless you intend on Drop Podding them, I wouldn't waste the points. Lascannon and Missile Launcher Dreadnoughts really don't belong in a Space Wolves list to be honest with you, it pretty much goes against the ethos of the whole chapter, but then again, each unto his own.

In all honesty I have to say that this looks pretty solid in every respect with the exception of one glaring group: Sniper Scouts.

Really, these guys just wouldn't do anything for you overall. In fact, with you I would recommend kitting them out for Operating Behind Enemy Lines. Your biggest issues are going to be opponents that sit back and shoot at you, and you don't have much to reach out and touch anyone. I would say Melta, 2x Plasma Pistols and call it a day. You'll usually be hitting rear armor and there isn't much that is 14 all around; however, you can do Melta bombs instead if you feel uncomfortable. This adds an extra point of pressure on your opponent and all of those Imperial Guard Players that love piling on the Heavy Artillery will be crying when their almost 300 points in Artillery goes up in flames. Sure this won't always happen; however, just putting that little seed of fear in your opponent is worth the points.

One other thing: I would change over the Storm Bolter to a Heavy Flamer. Sure you lose some range but when you get close (and you will) the Heavy Flamer makes short work of plenty of softies before you squish them.

Otherwise, looks good. Best of luck.

OK, here's where I'm at now

HQ:
1 Wolf Lord @ 255 pts Runic Armour; Thunderwolf Mount; Frost Weapon x1; Storm Shield x1; Saga of the Warrior Born
1 Rune Priest @ 160 pts Chooser of the Slain; Master of Runes; Living Lightning; Storm Caller

Fast Attack:
10 Fenrisian Wolves @ 80 pts
3 Thunderwolf Cavalry @ 210 pts Storm Shield x1; Thunder Hammer

Heavy Support:
6 Long Fangs @ 140 pts Missile Launcher x5

Troops:
6 Grey Hunters @ 165 pts Mark of the Wulfen; Meltagun; Power Weapon; Razorback
1 Razorback, Twin Linked Heavy Bolter
6 Grey Hunters @ 165 pts Mark of the Wulfen; Meltagun; Power Weapon; Razorback
1 Razorback, Twin Linked Heavy Bolter
6 Grey Hunters @ 200 pts Mark of the Wulfen; Meltagun; Power Weapon; Razorback
1 Razorback, Twin Linked Assault Cannon
6 Grey Hunters @ 200 pts Mark of the Wulfen; Meltagun; Power Weapon; Razorback
1 Razorback, Twin Linked Assault Cannon

Elite:
1 Dreadnought @ 125 pts Twin Linked Autocannon; Twin Linked Autocannon
1 Dreadnought @ 115 pts Assault Cannon; Dreadnought CCW; Heavy Flamer
5 Wolf Scouts @ 130 pts Mark of the Wulfen; Plasma Pistol x2; Meltagun;

Total Roster Cost: 1945

I've got a good amount of things that handle medium/light armor
4 TL Auto Cannons
2 TL Assault Cannons
1 Assault Cannon
2 TL Heavy Bolters
Living Lightning
2 Plasma Pistols
S:6 Wolf lord

I have a few things that handle heavy armor
S:6 Wolf lord with Frost Weapon - excepting Land Raiders and Monoliths
TW Cav w/ Thunder Hammer
5 Missiles
5 Meltaguns
Assault cannons can even pen on AR 14, granted you need a bit of luck, but isn't every roll in the game in need of at least a little luck?

All I really modified so far is the scout squad and demotion of the WGBL to a reg Thunderwolf Cav model.
But now I have 55 points left over. The easiest choice is to add a land speeder for 50 points, but I'm not a fan at all of speeders.
Anyone have any good suggestions for rounding out the list? Upgrades to units are fine, list changes are fine if I need to move things around a bit to get something else in.
The only thing I'm really not planning on changing are my troops selections as in the 5 games I've played so far they've performed outstandingly.
Well, and the big bear. He's my Wolf Lord. I need a macro lens/camera. Sorry for the pic quality.
