These kits are so tiny. It amazes me that their vehicles are made for 25mm, and their figures are up to 32-35mm. Crazy stuff.
Also, all this beautiful interior detail, and then you glue everything closed. Such a waste.
Note: Being who I am, I'm keeping the top unglued, so I can remove it to show the interior.

GW has said before, (They got aksed when WD used to have a letters section) about the scale of vehicles to soldiers, and it is that the vehicles are smaller than they would be so they are easier to put in a carry case,, and that they are representative of the design concept.
True scaled to the SM, a Landraider would take up a 11 x 8.5 notebook foot-print

4 Valkyrie/Vendettas (I think I have parts for another)
1 Vulture Gunship
2 Sky Talons (I kinda need a third)
2 Arvus Lighters
2 Avenger Strike Fighters
I finally acquired an OOP Aquila Lander, so that's on the way.
I still desire:
An original Lighting Strike Fighter
A few Thunderbolts
Maybe one of the Voss Lightnings to escort the Avengers
A Marauder Bomber or two.
Air power. My defense against "D" weapons.

Hmmm Avengers, I may have to hurry that MiG up If I still keep parts of a WW-2 bomber, I may be able to convert some and make a home made Verti-Bird.......Now there is a thought!

I'm looking for suggestions as to how I should paint the engines. Right now, I'm considering painting them black, and then doing a light drybrush of silver.

I wouldn't paint them any differently than the rest of the silver on the plane or they'll look out-of-place. After that, you can add special engine effects like temperature discoloration, etc.

In other news, I have acquired two of the four original GW Imperial fortifications.
An Imperial Guard command Tower (new in box, unpunched), which looks like this:
And an Imperial Guard Battle Bunker, which looks like this:
I have to track down an Imperial Guard Bastion and the Imperial Firebase, and my collection of 2nd ed fortifications will be complete!

I had one of those box terrain in the day. I still have a bunch of the Necromunda terrain as well thou being use I suspect they aren't in that great of shape.
I would have done the engines black with metallic drybrushing to make them contrast a bit.

The most difficult part of going back to a project you shelved is remembering the PLAN.
