Here is our conversion for the Storm Raven Here at the Battle Den. We made it where you can fit a full drednought. It is smaller then a thunder hawk and bigger then a valkeryie.

The bulkness and the size of it is very nice.

However it feels like... im looking at mating season between 2 species of Ad Mech creations

You took a land raider and slapped an entire Valkyrie kit onto it. Sorry, I do not like it.

The landing gear for example ontop of the 4 engines makes it look like 2 separate entities. Hence i mentioned humping season.

The bottom of the kit looks like a forgeworld marauder bomber or similar. I've got to say I don't like it either, too many bits wedged together, the whole rear end looks too open/uncoordinated for a vehicle capable of re-entry, the hull is nothing more than a landraider, the 2 sets of wings with landing gear between doesn't look like one vehicle.

It looks like the kid of thing shops throw together to impress kids.

Too much looks tacked on, like slapping some wings on a regular land raider, almost an orkish design than space marine.

The rear doesn't look useful. Yes, I know its' a model for a make-believe game but still...

Nice try!

I'd agree that it looks more like several vehicles welded together, A-team style, than it does one coherent aircraft.

Okay, but you get the point sugar-den? Too much flying land raider, not enough conversion.

I am bereft, I must apologise. Obviously my opinion is not valid unless I have also nailed together every kit I have lying around. On the flipside, by your logic everyone saying they like it also has no valid opinion unless they've built one correct?

Wow guys why are you all so abusive? We never said it was the best Storm Raven or this is how it should look like. We were not trying to win a contest. We just wanted to show it off. I had no idea you would hate it so bad. Who ever put up the picks of the other Storm Ravens thank you they look very cool! I was not implying that you should have had to build a storm raven to know what you are talking about I was just wanting to see others. Thanks for the beating. We will be careful on what we put on in the future.

So abusive and rude, must be on dakka

When did the guy say "i'd like to see you do better"?
He simply asked to see other peoples work, which, being a heavily converting based forum, seems like a good thing.

Im sorry, but why cant someone ask to see someone elses work?
It was simply 1 persons post that skewed the OP's words.

/Rant

Anyways, i do agree in a way that it looks a bit tacked together, the parts dont really fit together in any smooth or uniformed manner, they just seem glued in place.
Try using some plasticard to smooth out and re-shape cwertain areas, that should help it gain more of a natural look.
Romeo's raven (3'd in Luna's post) is a good example of how plasticard can be used to gain a great looking model that does not look out of place.

Well let's move on then guys.

---

I do like the way you guys handled some of the weapons. The multimeltas and assault-cannons really look great in fact. I think the weapon mounts are where a lot of the other Stormraven conversions have failed.

If you like the result of your efforts that is really all that matters. This forum has some really fantastic (high level) modelers and painters that are usually great for advice. I'm not one of them haha, but I would say that really the only failing I can see, in my humble opinion, is the frag launchers and the LR tracks. They both give away the LR too much. If you agree - you could always cut them off or even just plasticard extra-armour over them fairly easy.

The top half is really cool, its just the land raider kinda stuck on there. I like it, but i just feel that without the treads or some of the other land raider bits it would look a little more cohesive. The tail gun is a great idea though.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Agreed with some of the above. It is way to clear that this is three kits glued together.

To improve it (because it certainly has potential) I would:
Remove land raider tracks completely. Use plastic-card or something to make the sides for the thing. + chop roof off the LR
Remove the valk wings - you already have a pair of awesome wings from the marauder, and the valk wings looks like they have landet on top of the other wings
Remove the front of the marauder - that lump of stuff just doesn't fit it.

I would then slide the LR under the marauder, in such a way that the cockpit was right above the door. (this is why I would chop the roof off too
And move the wings higher up on the model

The weapons are very sexy, but not practical from a games PoV, but would probably keep them where they are for that sexy look

In this way, it would keep a lot of it's size and good elements, and should look much less like a kitbash

This is certainly the most expensive way to build a stormraven I've ever seen though. Who the hell donated their marauder for this project?

Thanks for sharing, gives me some ideas

I really like the back with the drop pod. That was really clever. Although in some points you can tell some un-eveness, It could be fixed with some putty or plasticard. I really like it.
