So over on the Privateer press forums someone started a Wargamers online Journal building our armies up to 25 points for an up coming Shattered Grounds league in June.
You were given the choice of playing a faction of your choice, or spinning the wheel of doom and having a random faction assigned to you. Being a gambling man i chose wheel of doom, why? Well because it's a freakin wheel of doom, duh and hola.(2 points for who gets that refrence) I ended up with Skorne(hence the title) and while i have always admired the army, i have no clue what they do or who they are. Disregarding that bit, i looked at the Privateer Press website gallery for the coolest looking Skorne models i could get(at this time). Right away i knew i wanted the Bronze back titan. This model is epic, and heavy as hell. I picked up the Skorne starter aswell as most of them are pretty good deals, then picked up 2 more Warlocks, so i could have some variety in my games, then picked up some paingivers as a support unit and a master tormentor. About 200$ later i had a tone of white metal models that needed assembly and purpose.

This is the models laying on the priming table.

Most of the models got pinned, heres an example.

Next i had to decide how i wanted to base them. Previously i had made wooden bases for a friend and really liked how they turned out. I didn't want to copy it, but i did want something that was different than my usual three flocks and sand bases. Looking around on the PP forums i saw some one mention Cracked earth and decided thats what i wanted. I researched a picture on line and then printed it out, mixed up some green stuff and went to work copying it.

After the bases had dried i primed them white and washed them with devlan mud.( i figured it was fitting, as they were supposed to be dried mud) after the wash dried, it was still too light so i washed it with gryphone sephia, and finally got acolor i liked. Meanwhile i primed the figures black and after pinning them to the bases started the painting.

When i started painting(this morning(5-7-10) ) i wasnt sure how i wanted to go about it, but i did know i didn't what the studio scheme. I had painted an eldar Fire prism earlier and really liked the scheme, so looking at it for insparation i translated it to the Bronzeback titan, as it was going to be my first painted piece of the army.

I dare say I like the blue over the red as it shows out extremely well as a contrast. Cheers mate!

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

You have a nice foundation on the titan, good contrast between the skin and armor.

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.
— Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt, prior to the field execution of his uncle General Aldo Dercius

Nice and coherent looking force. The blue and yellow create a really strong contrast and makes the models pop on the pics.
