So my GF is starting to get into the hobby a little (WOO!) and has decided to take abit of an interest in Lizardmen. Its just that she doesnt really like the light blue that they seem to be painted. I had a quick look in the back of the codex whilst i was at my local store but couldnt see any real variations or differnt 'clans.'

Does this mean that Lizardmen are only blue, would people be annoyed at them being painted differnt colours? As she likes the look of cold ones and would proberbly want to do them a similar colour to those.

Any help, suggestions or fluff to help us decide on a good scheme would bt appreciated.

There are no rules for what you can or can't paint something. I could paint my beastmen all yellow, and say they are mutated sunflower seeds that then mated with a beastman, to create this. I'ts a Gor.

Lizardmen are terribly easy to paint (I've heard dipping makes them even easier)

I like a very bright red scheme, with a contrasting light purple.

I know theres no rules to painting as that part of the fun with the hobby. I guess i wasnt very clear though, im just looking for other colour schemes that may have fluff to conicide with them.

The 5th edition book's color pages have them in varying greens, red, blue, purple, white, orange, yellow, black with yellow spots, and red with black splotches. It even states in a box on Reference Books: "In general any reference books on reptile, dinosaurs and amphibians are good sources of inspiration for the Lizardmen army."

GW has a tendency to push just one painting scheme, most of the time not a favourable one. The blue one is clearly dominant for official Lizardmen. I don't like these colours either. My favorite would be a desert theme like this one:

i think i'd do them in teal and purple if i were painting them.

i'm trying to figure out how to incorporate purple into a wood elf scheme myself.

Ah, i like the desert ones! Ill have to show her that one. Purple sounds cool aswel, ill have to try and find some pics of them.

Hell I paint mine Dark Angel green on the scales, goblin green on under skin and mild chaos black on the spikes. I used my pet iguana for inspiration.
