As the subject implies i am making a chaos ork army that will be usable in both chaos space marine codex and ork codex i have almost completed my ork war boss and finished one nob but i ran out of idea's to make the chaotic so any ideas would be appreciated greatly also will be posting pics as soon as i find my camera.

Actually, before I even started an army, I was thinking about doing the exact same thing. What I had in mind is that I would 1) Paint the ork's skin jet black with bright red eyes or 2) blood red skin with black eyes.

Oh yeah, the idea is solid. My wife plays Orks, and I do most of her conversions for her, but she wanted to help one day. She ended up putting some CSM shoulder pads on hers, and a Chaos dread arm on one of her warbuggies, then it hit me. What if Orks looted Chaos stuff, and they didn't understand that it was all tainted, and then they would eventually become corrupted.

Never went through with the idea, as we didn't need to start another army. The idea you have is great. I'd be excited to see more models. Maybe even a looted defiler to use as a mega dread.

I'm guessing the claw is from the defiler? Hmmm... I like your idea of the fluff for the army, very original.

When I first read it I thought you were doing an Ork army like the one in DOW that was being manipulated by chaos but I think I like your idea better.

However, I do also think the claw is a wee bit too big, maybe give him some bigger armor and use him as a Ghazghull count as?

Try checking out the Black Orcs from Warhammer Fantasy, they have enough horns , and spikes to be fit for a chaos ork army.

PS. I don't think chaos have tech marines the closest to one would be the Warsmith. I may be completely wrong.

At least make them Khorne, fits Orks perfectly.

Chaos don't have a techmaribe model, in the fluff there's stuff about a "dark mechanicus" a warsmith as far as I know is just a lord of the Iron warriors warband, they're more like the mechanicus than other warbands but they're still just a normal CSM warband

I fully support the idea of a Khorne BersORKer army. I thought of that a long time ago and never got around to it. It would be really cool to use it as either Orks or a Khorne CSM army.

Btw, Jesus Christ, that Klaw is massive.

As a sidenote, I think to do this army justice would require a lot of work; I also think that they should look more CSM than Ork, if you know what I mean? Cool mutations (you could use claws instead of Power Klaws, or spikes as Choppas, or whatever) and higher quality guns, they need to have serious armour (for the 3+ save) and so forth; they'd have to look really good for me personally to accept them as a Chaos army if they just look like Orks and they've got a Chaos Star Waaagh Banner and that's it, y'know?

Is this coming from a pure modeling point or a gaming view? Some people wouldn't game with you due to rule amendments/arguements, shame.

Some would also say that Orks don't get corrupted by chaos due to the unique nature of their being. They are just too weird, stupid and brutal anyway!

Well sharpasaspoon its coming from a gaming and moddeling point of vei but since im just going to a small club who really wouldnt care if you fielded a squad of gurkins im in the clear gaming wise also i will have pictures of my completed ork fear boss soon plus an ork cob (chaos nob) also has a ny one seen the gretchin army someones making iv seen it and cant remmember where though also does anyone know where to find a tut on spines.thanks for commenting as well.

I, personally, go with the view that Orks and Chaos aren't compatible due to the reasons Sharpasaspoon mentioned, but that being said, I love the idea of it. Orks are just as likely to loot chaos vehicles/equipment as any other, and if the Orks infest a chaos tainted planet, I can certainly see that is the main items they would be looting. I don't think they would become Chaos, at least not like Marines and Guard do, but instead would become wild and ever more primitive.

I think the claw is overly large, but not because of it's size but because of it's positioning. That big, held out that far really makes the model seem off center.

Still love the idea though.

Good Idea tho. It should not be to hard to kitbash a few chaos orks, and some looted stuff. Looking forward to seeing progress.
Dont like the connection to Khorne, he is to angry. Orks in the fortyfirst milennia probably have the time of their life!

Khorne Stormboys used to be a viable unit back in the days of 'Ere We Go and Freebooters, both of which were cool books with a lot more variety than the Orks have now...

they have actually just made a comeback in the fluff, but i won't spoil the surprise by telling which book they appear in, but it's one of this month's Black Library releases...

there used to be so much more variety in the Orks than we saw in the last Codex...
