Hey, new here google searches of female space marines eventually brought me to these forums which i found fairly interesting with the painting and modeling section. Currently I have about a total of 3 armies Tau, Tyranids, a small force of Damon Hunters, and lastly the one I'm working on Space wolves aka my Fox Marines army.
Now the Idea for this army is that instead of a wolf of which is a great choice for a pack mentality but for this army I'm going with a Fox(cause its my favorite animal). I know that foxes are usually live in the wild solo but they also at times stay in small 'families'.
part 1.
Currently the
SM models I have are the standard
SM and I have them painted in a snow camouflage style for my original idea of Ghost Marines, but I've decided to go with the space wolf army template instead thus daubing them "
Fox Marines" for my choice of animal.
their current paint scheme is this (photobucket is being really weird and isn't letting me upload anything, uploaded to the dakkadakka gallery and now you can see them)
I decided to follow how the original Space Wolves did their armor, with 1 major primary color with a bright contrasting Trim color. The primary of the armor will be codex gray with blazing orange trim with highlights of lighter grays for the armor using dry brushing and a yellow and orange highlight for the shoulder trim. The eyes will be green with the metal parts being chain mail. Then lastly around the boots and lower shins will be a brown/gray mix for that muddy look of running around the battle field. Lastly the pelts with be complemented with a "Fox" pelt style to represent the Dire Foxes (equivalent of the space wolves home planet wolves) of my chapters home world.
What they will eventually look like is this. (fixed the quality cause I charged the batteries of my camera)
sample 2
In total I have about 35 regular marines (of which are 10 terminators, 23 power armor marines, 1
HQ terminator, 1
HQ wolf/rune priest) 2 of which are actual space wolf models (are shown in the pics) are the only wolf or I should say Fox element of my current selection of models.
- So basically I need to "Fox" up most of the other models to make the army look interesting and to make the models look like how most of the new Space wolf models look without having to scrap the lot and buy all new models, any inexpensive tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated for this part of my army. As well on another note my armies home planet is a primal world with general culture of the planet being of a Native American type of society with very slight Viking influences. So instead of pelts, skulls, and runes as the primary decoration of the space wolves, it will consist of Pelts, eagle like Feathers, some runes, and very few skulls. I do have some left over bits from my brothers space wolf army but it is very little with the wolf tails and a bolter or two.
Part 2.
Now part 2 of my army is probably everyone's favorite topic, Female Space Marines. Now lets start off with saying that
I HAVE DONE MY REASURCH, and I know by the original cannon and fluff that female
SM's technical wouldn't work, but at the same time there are enough gaps in the
SM history to have a small chance of working.
1. Two of the original 20 Primarchs are missing and records say "All data expunged" and there is plenty of speculation as far as what happened to these 2 missing legions. For all we know one of them could have been an experimental female space marine legion that may have had minor achievements but ultimately the overall success rate of a recruit making it through the
SM transformation process was too low and thus the idea was scrapped.
2. Here's a couple of links that incorporate females into their space marine army and give very good explanations why they are their.
-Fighting Tigers of Veda

-Valkyries of the Omnissiah

Now how I am going to incorporate Female space marines is that they are only going to be about every 5th model if not a greater spacing, and primarily in the Wolf Scout unit.
On the Fox Marines planet the population is 60% female 40% male and in their culture Every One Fights, both men and women. With what happened to the chapter they can't exactly be picky about new recruits, because the brother of the primarch of the fox marine chapter stole away half of the fighting force to the powers of chaos and thus becoming the "Burning Legion Chaos marines". That coupled with one of the Adeptus Mechanicus had one of the female gene seed that was successful thus allowing female space marines to fill the gaps and the great losses the chapter has suffered. The fox marines in themselves are a 2rd founding chapter off the Space Wolves so the Chapter Primarch would originally have been a Space Wolf whom instead of a wolf gene chose a Fox gene insted. So it will only have around 1,000 space marines at a given time, well lets just say with about 500 of the 1,000 now gone the commanders and Primarch are gonna take what they can get their hands on to rebuild their chapter.
Now to the modeling part, from reasurch some of the best ways to do this is to either completely model some(not exactly an option i'm not a pro modeler and on a budget). Other way's I've heard is to use the
GW wood elf archers and some Dark elf models form warhammer fantasy. As well as using some of the heads from the Chaper house Studios
http://chapterhousestudios.com/webshop/ which has some female
IG heads which can also be used for
SM heads, along with the Reaper Miniatures which has a very nice selection here
http://www.reapermini.com/. Note at the same time I would like to stay within the Games Workshop model range if by chance i go to a Games Day event where only
GW models are allowed, and I would like to keep is as plastic as possible.
Now with heads out of the way, the primary of female representation in my army will be in the "Fox" scouts units where they have less armor on thus having a higher exposer of the female figure, where for this I could use the wood elf for dark elf plastics with a little bit of green stuff for minor modeling and covering to make them look like space marine scouts, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
To sum it up any tip for making my mostly normal
SM look more Fox(space wolf) like, and conversion tips and tricks for female space marines(specifically
SM scouts) would be greatly appreciated.
