So the other day, I decided to magnetize my crisis suit...after I had finished painting it. The magnets turned out great and I'm really happy being able to swap out weapons on the fly. However, after repeated attempts to touch up the paintjob around the hardpoints, I'm getting frustrated trying to get the same look as the rest of the suit over the area's I'm repainting. I took some pictures for reference. What I did when I originally painted the suit was basecoat with Dessert Yellow(Tamiya color), then washed the figure with Burnt Umber(from the liquitex line). But I can't seem to get that same look over again. Anybody have any advice?

When I use magnets I try to inset them, and then just paint over them with black and varnish. Hope they stay hidden is what i do... Not sure if that helps

Are you trying to get that deep colour on the left side of the model, or the subtle shading? I would imagine that maybe you're using too much wash. A lighter wash will still create shadows while keeping the basecoat that excellent Tau yellow.
