Hi Folks,

Let me unveil our first "Super-Heavy" vehicle kit, the SXV-141 Super-heavy Assault Walker, or the SAW for short. (I am leaning towards calling this big boy the "Kraken" to keep up the ocean theme of tau)
After seeing the work of the guy who designed and sculpted this walker I knew we had to carry it! We were even able to drop the production cost of this huge kit.
Price is set at $285 plus shipping.

It is a completely new design, but it has an obvious "Tau" style to it.

This is a resin model kit consisting of over 50 parts, weighing in at approximately 2kg and standing almost 30cm tall when complete. The kit components are supplied “as cast” and require cleanup, assembly and painting for the finished product.

Needless to say I think the Imperial Warhound titan will have its hands full.

This monster mounts Twin Heavy Rail Guns, Smart Missile launchers, Marker Lights and Burst Cannons for close defense.

We are working on rules for this bad boy and welcome any thoughts.

Oh. My. God.

Two barracudas, one Behemoth.

Behemoth. Definitely the Behemoth.

On a side note, I'm reminded (in a very good way) of the robot from that one anime... Ghost in the Shell? The big tank one that went on a rampage. Lovin' it.

Riddle me this: what has four sides, moves twelve inches, and moved fourteen?

I like the design and the quality of the sculpt is really nice. However, I can't get over the fact that the names for the walker are all Hive Fleets!

Brother SRM, you forget that those are Imperial names for the Tyranids.

Who knows what the Tau call them, as far as they know there is only one Tyranid Hive (they have not faced more then one..).

A Kraken is a huge, ferocious, monstrosity of a beast.
This thing does not meet that description (no Tau vehicle SHOULD). Nautilus seems more appropriate.

I think it should have a name that befits its walker status. So perhaps a shellfish type name. Like the Land Crab or something.

I say Kraken, because Kraken makes me think of a beast that breaks open ships.

Like this thing lseems to be able to break open tanks.

Because, as we know, nothing was named Kraken before GW called one of the Hive Fleets "Kraken".

Darn. I read the title and was hoping for something more of a bipedal mecha design. Does look good though, but no way could I afford it.

Name it after a monster killer, the Tau love to name things that inspire confidence as opposed to striking fear.

A monster killer, so... The Argo, for the Argonauts of legend.

Also, quick guesses people: counts as Warhound or counts as Warlord? I can't quite figure the size of it.

Love the model, but I agree that while the names you list are appropriate(and certainly not property of GW), sharing a name with a hive fleet invites unwanted comparisons.

How about Karkinos- the crab that tried to help the Hydra fight Hercules in mythology?

Alright, nevermind with the 'counts as' thing since they wrote up rules for the beast.

The points cost looks a tad low though, aren't Warhounds (which would seem to be significantly less powerful) only 750?

This thing is a ludicrous marry sue weabon tau wet dream at 700 points. Ludicrously underpriced compared to the light titans of the other races. Models nice though. You should probably invest in a better camera or a lightbox or something. The photography isn't particularly stellar.

As for rules, I would say roughly 500 points sounds about right. Its armament is fairly light compared to most other superheavy walkers (or superheavies in general). I would say this is more akin to a knight than anything else.

Also a note about the name: The names given to Tau vehicles as we know them are in fact IMPERIAL designations, and not what the Tau themselves call the vehicles.

What..? It can shoot 2 apoc template str 7 ap3 shots, 48 str 5 ap4 shots with no LOS, and 12 spr 5 ap5 shots a turn. Conversely it can shoot 2 str d shots, six str 8 ap3 shots, and 12 s5 ap5 shots per turn. Thats more firepower than a warhound is capable of for less points.
