I'm pretty sure there was in the firebase, but I just can't recall which issue, 4-6 I guess.

That is a very cool model. GW probably like it because it is about 90% GW parts and needs something like four Hammerhead kits to build.
According to official fluff, Tau don't use Titans, they use huge fliers instead.
Chapterhouse are releasing a 4-legged Tau Titan model. There is a thread in the News forum.
Lots of people have made their own Titans or giant battlesuits from Gundam models or similar. There is a thread about it in Painting & Modelling at the moment.

Not a Titan (no where near the size) but I made this (are still working on it) piece of scenery to represent some Tau related "giant robo", either their new tech, or more likely, an early/antiqe crisis suit. Feels kind of silly now I have seen some great Tau titan pics though
Thought the difference could be fun...

It's nice but it looks more Orky than Tau. It would make a good Killa Kan.

Lol, its about 10 inches tall, so I dont think Killa Kan would be a good option. Anyway, its meant to become a piece of scenery, maybe with some special rules if you approach, not really beloning to any army. But I guess it look kind of orky, in a lanky way.

That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Imagine that and a warhound titan fighting!

Well there's nothing in the pic to give an indication of scale, so I made a guess based on your description that it was meant to be an early crisis suit and was much too small to be a Titan. That lead me to think it would be about 3-4 inches tall.
What's the next thing up in size from a Killa Kan?

First a disclaimer:
In official fluff, there is no Tau Titan. Imperial Armour #3 (Taros Campaign) had 3 Warhounds fighting against a Tau force. Tau learned from previous encounters and developed a Titan-killer variant of their Tigershark flyer. The flyer easily destroyed one Warhound, after which the other two were quickly withdrawn. Common view is that Titans are too bulky, clumpsy and immobile for Tau warfare and that tau prefer flyers and other highly mobile weapon systems. So many people are opposed to the concept of Tau Titans.
That said, several people had the idea that a Japanese inspired army with battle suits SHOULD have giant Mechas.
Here a bigger one made by Vash over at Warseer:
(Rules http://www.warseer.com/gallery/data/500/medium/XV101datasheetjpg.jpg )
Here a smaller one:
(original thread, with half the pics deleted: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114247 , Titans beginning page 3)
Once assembled, I will use this for my Sa'cea Tau Force. It's a highly detailed 1/60 Gundam "counting as" an Eldar Titan.
And I will use this smaller Gundam Xamel "counting as" an Eldar Scorpion:
There is a lot more than you can borrow from Mecha toys as a Tau player, but that is another topic
