Warboarkers, or keep them as is with house rules for Beasts?
They should be used as WarBoarkers.
They should be used as Nob WarBoarkers.
Keep the models factory, and use house rules as Beasts.
Those models suck, and so do Bikers, so do whatever you want.

OK, so i got the Orc Boar Boys box because I liked the models. Initially, I had thought that I would convert them by adding some weapons and then calling them Warbikers or Nob bikers - after all, these are 5 for $25, substantially less expensive for equally neat models. As i began converting, two things occurred to me:

1.) Converting them is easy. If you take a big shoota from the Ork Boyz box, it works a a replacement right arm with no GS required. Just glue it on, put on a shoulder plate, it looks like it should be there - the pose is that perfect. The gun could represent both the TL dakkagun and the slugga.

and

2.) Maybe converting them is wrong. The models are pretty damn neat in their own ways - I like the long, lance like spears. Looking through the rulebook, there already is a section covering beasts - it would be a snap to just roll a new unit. The only thing I'd really need to do is work out points values. They could essentially be a nob squad mounted on beasts, and the only conversion as far as modeling would be was to maybe add a pistol on their backs to represent the sluggas, or possibly add a PK... or add nothing and just consider them to be a CC unit with no BS at all, and 3A/4 on the charge. And they can keep their pig-logo shields!

So, now I have a quandary. One that I will let Dakka solve for me.

Should I convert them into counts-as warbikers (WarBoarkers) or should I houserule up something new for them, and leave the models mostly as is?

I say Boarkers. But then, I'm a big fan of the gaming aspect, modeling comes second to me.

Go for some Boarboyz! Convert them a little so the Orks look like they're from 40k, and you'll be good.

Why not do both? But I do like the idea of Warboarkers. You could still incorporate the lances, considering Rough Riders use em as well.

Put some handlebars on them piggies and some serious dakka. Can never have too much dakka.

I won't bother.

OK, I got some work in on the WarBoarkers. I still haven't filed mold lines, and there is some blue tack present, but I trust you'll get the idea. The pictures are like 3500x1500, so you can zoom quite a bit. Luckily, you can't see where I made harnesses for them using chains (the Insaniak way) but it turns out that kinda takes some practice, so they are more like chains (The Ouze Way - not quite so hot).

Ork WarBoarker 01

This one is only lightly converted - using a big shoota from the Ork boyz box, with a lance underslung. Maybe needs some more work.

Ork Warboarker 02

This one is using a combi-shoota from the Ork Nob box, a sentinel's autocannon, and a shooter gun & hand from the Ork Boyz box. I know some people frown on using Imperial tech in Ork conversions, but it just seems fluffy to me. I can't see them refusing to use a gun just because it has an aquilla on it - though I did shave off the aquilla.

Ork Warboarker 03

This one was converted using a Big Choppa & hair plume from the Ork Nobz box, some armor plates from the Stompa kit, the shoulder armor from the Killa Kans box, and a cut-down big shoota from the Ork boyz box. Technically, that Choppa is a little too big for him, but I love the way it looks. If anyone asks why his right hand is so much larger then the other hand, I'll just tell them he's very, very lonely.

Ork Warboarker 04

This one was converted with the heavy bolters from the Valkyrie kit (the door guns) and a glyph from the Nobz box.

Ork Warboarker 05 (Nob)

This Nob was created using a big shoota left over from my Killa Kans, a PK from the Ork boyz box, some armor plates from the Stompa kit, and some bits from the Nobz box, as well as some brass rod. Yes, some of the bits in my bits box are painted.

Excellent work! I love the looted Imperial stuff, and totally agree with you from the fluffy angle. I have a scratch built Loota who just uses an IG heavy weapons team Autocannon, and it looks great on him.

When I first saw the boar boyz (and their price) I thought Hell yeah! Feral Ork Bikers! Keep up the good work!

That looks pretty neat. I thik you need to maybe work a bit more on the gun harnesses. In a couple of cases they don't quite look robust enough to actually support the attached weapons

Also if you are only having weapons on one side I would stick some kind of weight on the other side to balance the harness up a bit. Maybe additional ammo, armour plate or a trapeezing grot or something

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Timely thread, I'm doing the same thing and making a bike list out of it. Getting Gorbad Ironclaw as the biker boss, too. I have ZERO problem making these into warboarkers, as you call them, as the warbike squadron is crazily priced and these are reasonable. I have so many shootas and big shootas left from my boyz sprue that they are going to be easy conversions. So, I salute you, sharer of a great idea, and urge you to go forth with warboarker love!
