I was looking at my finished Stormraven today and thought theres too much plain red. So I took a big deep breath and slopped some paint on.

Did I ruin it?

Amazing, I couldn't do anything near that. Do you do any more traditional art in addition to painting minis (drawing, painting, ect)? The level of detail and technique - the shading in particular - has me thinking you have prior experience. If not, I'm even more impressed.

No, I have no prior artistic experience. But dont get me wrong this image is from the Blood Angels codex. I didnt just imagine it up. Its originally in black and white, so I just substituted colors.

Lol, the only prior experience I can remember is sketching Pokemon by copying from the cards. I was a kid and I'd go around telling grown ups who didnt know about Pokemon that I just thought them up with my fantastic creativity! Ah, to be young again...

It's good! Not super magical awesome or anything, but very solid, you definitely accomplished what you were going for and it looks good.

Here's todays progress, (I've been doin other stuff so not a whole lot done)

I've decided on an overall scheme for the raven.

I'm going to have one wing say "Blood" on a parchment background and the other say "Falls". Then I'll have these three blood drops I'm in the middle of doing seemingly falling down from the wings. Lol, Dw it all makes sense in my head.

Oh, and who wants to buy this when I'm done?

The blood drops are done. I swear the red is different to the ship. The glaring light must morph the shades into one or something.

This is pretty damn good, and far surpases any freehand ive ever attempted.

WOW! that is freaken amazing, thats up there on the list of good freehands i've seen. great work on the shading btw.

Here's an update. More of an overall feel. I've yet to do the 'tips' of the parchment the writing is on.

and I've got to finish the missiles.

Other than that, this should be up on eBay fairly soon!

Redo it in yellow with black-and-white checkers, and I'll bid for it .
