Quick, some Math Hammer geek* figure out what the chances of 4 1's out of 5 dice are.

Ozymandias, King of Kings

*by geek I mean really smart statistics guy

the chances of rolling 4 1's out of five dice are 1 out of 7,776, which is a 0.000127% chance. The chances of getting five 1's on five dice [just to let you know, I have gotten 7 1's on 8 dice before, making crappy WBB rolls] is 1 out of 46,656, which is a really weird number.

4 1's in 5 dice is 25/7776 (I think you forgot to account for how many combinations of 4*1 there is)

5 1's on 5 dice is 1/7776

1/46656 is 6 1's on 6 dice.

@ Masters of the Chapter - Wow is that hard to get them on the table, I would have thought you could nab them individually for their abilities. But aye, one mega squad I suppose.

Also a fan of the basilisk marker shots.

I bet the Masters of the Chapter aren't a fan of the basilisk marker shots.

1/7776 isn't too bad. I'll take those odds for not destroying my Landraider terminus. The rules are still vague about what it can target though...

Nope, by the rules, sponson weapons have their 200-ish degree fire arc, regardless of whether or not the model is actually physically up to the job.

While I am excited about the release of the Apoc rules, I think I see a mistake on the Emperor's Fist rules sheet. It says "All tanks in the squadron must deploy within 6" on the command tank."

Its kind of hard to put 9 tanks within 6" of the command tank. I think it should have been "All tanks must deploy within 6" of each other." as in the Basilisk Company Rules.

As it reads, a squadron is 3 vehicles. If it's a squadron alone, then it's no prob.

If you use the whole company, then it's within 24" of the Company Command tank. 9 Tanks within 2 feet of one vehicle at deployment only? Works fine.

I think that you guys are doing your math wrong for the landraider terminus. The chance of an overload is 1 in 648. Multiply the chances of any three lascannons roling a 1 by the chances of either of the other two roling a one.

(1/6)(1/6)(1/6)(1/3)= 1/648

So, if you fire every turn with a terminus, you should over heat once in every 108 games.

I'm afraid it's not as simple as just multiplying like that cuda.  I was thinking  that using a Bernoulli Trial formula might work in this situation.

The Tau entries, while interesting, don't seem as robust as the others at the moment.

That's still not right.

Total permutations with 5 dice:  6 x 6 x 6 x 6 x 6 = 7776

With all ones: 1 / 1 / 1 / 1 / 1 = 1

With 4 ones and the first die something else (2-6) :  X / 1 / 1 / 1 / 1 = 5

With the second : 1 / X / 1 / 1 / 1 = 5

Third : = 5

Fourth : = 5

Fifth : = 5

In total there are 26 possible combinations out of 7776 with four or more ones.  Roughly 1 in 299 or 0.33% chance.

Why even bother making a rule that almost never has a chance of occuring.  Everything about the design of the Terminus stinks.  From the amaturish model concept to the pointless special rule.

So that people with poor math skills fielding one will worry needlessly.

So that the opponent can pray tot he chaos gods for that one in 299 chance.

So that when it does happen, you can laugh for 10 minutes, and tell stories about it for years.

Interesting bit in the Tank and Artillery Company entries..... They specify forge-world models and rules as being valid.
Salamanders are valid in the Arty company.
Exterminators, Vanquishers and Executioners are valid in the tank company.

Interesting, and I wonder how deep that rabbit hole goes.
