I say the feet are fine.

Don't overdo it man. They're perfectly reasonable Space Marine hooves, and you don't want to draw attention away from the Majestic Wings of Epic Smackdown.

And here I was worried he looked like Hawkman.

Its just too bulky to be hawkman, plus the jet engine on his back just doesn't fit hawkman.

This is good.... isn't it?

Sorry for the non-content update. Just letting anyone who cares know that I'm halting all work on this until I get my hands on the Blood Angels sprue. I pretty much hate the hatchet job I did on the jump pack and want to see if I can use the new BA ones from the Sanguinary Guard sprue. If it works, I'll update with a pic.

On the bright side, I've got a pretty good idea on how I want to paint my wings.

It's a nice looking model but for me it doesn't really suggest Raven Guard. Yes I know wings are appropriate stylistically but the nature aof Raven Guard is stealthy surgical strikes, attacking from the shadows, creeping around taking out enemy supply lines and infrastructure, etc. and I can't see that having enormous wings sticking out of your back are gonna make that very easy.

Still a great model though

I'm not making a Raven Guard force. I'm simply borrowing the Shrike special character for my own DYI "codex" army. Raven Guard have Rhinos and Land Raiders. Neither of those are very... stealthy. Ginormous wings are all over the Blood Angels and they're all about "fast".

Okay, time for an update. I belatedly got my Blood Angels sprues and have done some major surgery on Mr. Countsasshrike. As you can see from the pictures, I now use the SG jump pack instead of that hatchet job I tried to pass off as art. I much prefer how this one sits on the model and how the wings look as they extend from the base of the pack. Another change was to use the SG artificer armor instead of the standard chest with safety belts. I figure that should I want to field this guy without the Shrike rules, that 2+ save will come in handy. Since I found my Captain's shoulder pad in my bits box, it now sits on my figure instead of the Vet Sgt pad in the original.

I've still got some more detail work to do but I wanted to show how much better the model looks while retaining the same basic motif.

One of the LCs is from the SM Commander's sprue and the other from the newer Space Wolves Wolf Pack sprue.

Nothing says stealthy surgical strike like a mushroom stomp from a 400 lb mass of muscle and ceramite. that said i think the wings would be more stealthy than a roaring jetpack...

I'm not a big fan of the wing on the heads.
Otherwise, it's an awesome job.

I understand what you're saying, pms, but the the head looks too long and flat without them.

Okay, after a long period of sitting on my "to do" shelf, I finally broke down and had a friend, Justin Little, get this guy painted up properly. The wings are actually a lot darker than the pictures show. The yellow is pretty close, though.

Let me know what you guys think.
