Think about it this way. Dark Heresy describes a psyker as having a doorway to hell inside of his head. Slip it open just a little bit, and he can take its power and use it to warp reality somehow. But if it opens up too much, a daemon will grab it and force it to open all the way, so he can come through, either entering into the psyker's mind... or forcibly and painfully turning the psyker into a warp portal for his companions.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

The sink.

People get possessed all the time in 40k and fantasy. Usually I think it would be a psyker/wizard (or apprentice) being possessed.

Remember kids, possession is just one of the ways you can become a demon prince and live forever. No one said it would be fun.

Given that the loyalist Exorcist Chapter has all their initiates temporarilly posessed by Deamons on purpose who are then excorcised by an Inquisitor, it would appear that demonic posession can take place at the whims of the Inquisition even if the Deamon may not be quite "into it" --right?

This really is a misunderstanding of the fluff. In the creation of an Exorcist marine, the inquisitor performs rituals that would make the marine a more attractive 'meal' for deamons in the warp, deamons want souls, they want to be in the material world to play with the 'meat toys', its only when they cross over do they get off finding out they were tricked.

What happens to a demon when its host is killed? Is it kicked out of the body just a few feet away (in warp terms) or does it die and have to start over from its corresponding god's lair?
