Chicago is no more accessible for most of the midwest than Minneapolis is honestly. They are both pretty bad if you're driving and not flying. If you're flying it's pretty much the same thing anyway. And being a 4 hour drive for most of the midwest is a bit of a joke honestly. You're 5+ hours from anyone east of the Mississippi River which is where the majority of the midwest is. Oddly Minneapolis is actually more central to what's generally considered the midwest without the overlap of similar drive times to go east that Chicago would have with Media, PA (not that this is close to most of the east cost or eastern portions of the middle of the country).

Either way you probably want it in Chicago for the same reason I'm hopeful it's in Minneapolis, You don't want to drive 8 hours

Minneapolis is more central? You can look at a map and see that's nonsense. The fact that there's those big bodies of water to the east of minneapolis means that anyone who wants to drive to mineapolis from that direction is has to go around them. GW did something like this a couple of years ago, when they looked at a map and forgot about things like water that make it tough to drive in a straight line.

Centurion I mapquested from most of the Midwest's Major cities. Pretty much anything west of the Mississippi is far closer to Minneapolis. Sorry man but Chicago isn't a logical midpoint. Minneaoplis isn't either but it's better for the area that would be attending. The best, like I said earlier for the region they are servicing, would be Kansas City. Doesn't matter anyway though since it's going to be at Fantasy Flight Games Event Center here in Minnesota.

Pretty sure noone at GW know anything about Cartography and Population Density models...

How many semis were in Cali?
How many in Idaho?
There were 2 Semis in PA, one had 40+ turnout one had 15... go figure?

The finals are chosen on, who are the biggest store, and who wants to deal with the headache of up to 100 angry 'Ard Boyz descending on them for a weekend...

Demgraphics...number of people west of the mississippi is far far less than the number of people to the east.

You can say that but the pool limits with actual events semi's held. I'll be honest and admit that I did not note where all the semi's were held this year to determine where the majority were held. Either way it's a moot point, we gonna see ya up here in Minneapolis for the Finals?

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Well it looks like we have 2 out of the 3 locations.

Now we are just waiting for the west coast location to be announced. I will go if it is in So Cal, but I will not go if the finals are in No Cal.

Almost certainly not. Plane tickets plus hotel is outside my budget, especially with only three weeks notice. If I was going to fly somewhere, i'd rather go to da boyz gt.

Wow. Minnesota is no where near the central part of the midwest. The concentration of players forces the event to move much further south and east. I'd bet there are more 40k players in northern illinois than all of north and south dakota combined.

Maybe next year they can have the west finals in Northern Utah since that is the geographic center of the west.

I agree Kansas City would be a better location. Closer to Texas would be better for them.

There is a large number of players in NE, western IA, South Dakota areas. The Bugeater GT in Omaha drew good numbers for it's first year and is already looking good for next year. not counting Adepticon, what other GTs are in the IL area? I have been watching for something to make the drive over, but maybe I have just not seen it yet?

I said screw it, I am going to the da boyz gt instead, at least they have their junk together even if it's a comp event.

It doesn't matter that people say the finals are being held at the locations above. Till GW post something any person with some sense will wait till there is confirmation. Sucks to buy a ticket and gw changes their mind or something else happens you don't know and people are throwing stores out above. That being said how is the word getting out? Dakkadakka is only a small portion and not all of the semi finalist read dakkadakka or this thread.

This whole thing has been a utter joke.

Edit for autocorrect on I pad :(

@Centurion

I'd second hitting up Da Boyz GT if you are thinking of making a choice between the two. I personally wouldn't have travelled to Chicago so I can't imagine most people wanting to travel to Minneapolis

I contacted GW today and asked about it. They told me they'd get the locations up soon, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it change that quick.

Is anyone going to the finals in California? I am wondering if it will be worth the trip to play some cool people and maybe see what prize support GW will throw around this year.

You're going the wrong way.) Head East and it's 9.5 hours on the turnpike to Philly. Probably less as that's from Mapquest, and who drives the speedlimit on the turnpike?

I've made the drive from Philly to Cincinnati a few times. It is not a difficult drive. It is basically a super boring ride following the entire PA turnpike. It takes about 10 hours or a little more on the weekends.

The only concerning traffic in the Philadelphia area on weekends is if you plan to link up with 95 South IF your travel time falls on a sunday. I say "IF," because of the faithful eagles fans who tailgate early in the morning. Traffic on 95 draws to a crawls around the stadiums, along with the present construction on the bridges around the stadiums. There other other routes to bypass the stadium / airport area if you make the drive down, just keep that in mind.

If you have time and drive the day before you'll be fine, there is a hotel across from the Granite Run Mall where Showcase Comics is that frequently has reasonible prices.

Anyone know if GW plans on posting the scenarios for the finals on their web page or are we going to have to find out the day of when we show up?

Also, anyone have a rough headcount on how many people might end up at any given location? I would be surprised if more than 6 show up in Northern CA... Oh well, so much for a grand finale eh?
