Hey y'all! Got some stuff done. Firstly, updates on the blue avengers are done. Check em out:

I decided to try repainting the banner in the lightning pattern I mentioned, and it came out alright. I did this side first:

and this side second:

I think the second side is much better. What do you think? And how should I finish it out? I'm thinking maybe a glowy blue border on the whole flag.

The second wraithlord is green. How exciting. Haha

And here's some other models for you guys to peek at. This is an OOP farseer I've had kickin' around that I painted a while back. He needs basing, but I think he's pretty neat.

And here's my preferred HQ unit: Eldrad and some warlocks. Here's the drad:

And a few shots of some warlocks:

These guys might get the scorpion green/washing update that the anvengers got. Should be quick and easy.

So next is, like I said, the red avenger squad being brought to snuff (which will be boring so I doubt I'll document it) and then I think I'll start poking around at my vehicles.

Thanks for checking in!

Wonderful. Every time I check this blog, it astounds me with your beautiful paint scheme and paint jobs.

What colours do you use for your orange gems?

Foxtale: the gems are a base of blazing orange, which I let dry. Next is sunburst yellow in a crescent at the "bottom". Lately I've been trying to let this dry and then go back and drag some yellow in thin coats up from the crescent to attempt some kind of blending. I tried wet blending, which I can do fine on things like swords and big surfaces, but it just wasn't working for me for whatever reason. Finally I add the white reflection dot at the opposite side. I try to be sure that the implied source of light is from the same direction throughout a model to add some cohesion.

Hey guys! Been working on the second lord, and I need some ideas. I really like the look of both flamers being shoulder mounted, but the way this guy is currently built one is shouldered and one is an arm mount to make room for a shoulder missile launcher. I've been toying with different places for the EML and wanted to see what you guys think.

Here's the original shoulder mount idea:

Here's if I swap the flamer and EML:

And here's an idea I had sticking it under the lance in place of that sighting array:

That last idea is neat but it really unbalances the look of the model. Another Idea I just thought of could be sticking both flamers under the lance and keeping the shoulder missile...that might be cool. So what do you guys think of these ideas? Help me out, I really want to finish painting him!

Here's a random shot of the wraithlords chillin together, much like they will in games. They're clearly guarding my blue moon seasonal...nice work guys.

Also I decided to do a white border on the Exarch flag. I think it made it look a little more organized.

Thanks for checking in.

Hey guys another quick update. I finished up the new exarch for the yellow close combat squad:

And I did the banners for all three squads. I'm quite happy with how they came out. Definitely a lot more attractive then they were.

Hey guys, little update on the second wraithlord. I decided to keep the origional setup for the weapons. All the primary colors are done and highlighted, so all I really have left is to do the gems and decide what to do with the banners.

Look good? Let me know.

Thanks!

Pink. JK, prolly about like the underslung EML on the rifle guy. I'm thinking about doing it opposite though because too much bone there could be unbalancing.

Love the color choices and the wraithguard pose.

You're gems look like candy corn lol. Hopefully saying that doesn't ruin them for you... but maybe if they were orange => yellow => white they would look better. Or, looking back, I think the gems with less white on them look better.

Hey guys. Red squad is all fancied up!

In fact, all my Dire Avengers are updated. Winner!

I was also digging through some older models I havn't used in ages and found my jetbike seer council and autarch.
Here's the council:

Farseer:

Warlock close up:

And here's the Autarch:

I want to do some work on the Autarch. I painted him ages ago and I'm sure I can make him cooler with some freehand and touch ups.

So yeah more to come guys, thanks for checking in!

All of the painting looks amazing. (Love the jetbikes!)

The bases let them down just a little.

Foxtale: Thanks, and I know what you mean. A lot of my bases are old and scraggly. There was a time when I thought covering a black base in static grass looked good. I would like to go back and fix all those, but I just don't have the time or resources yet.

There'll be an update soon BTW. The second wraithlord is nearly done, I just need to get to his EML, base, and banners. I've also started work on the second guardian squad. There's a 1750 tournament coming up so I'm trying to make sure all the things I want to use are up to scruff. Painting scores can matter! Haha. Maybe I'll stick up a few pictures of the army I'm playing and I'm sure I'll document the games.

Check back soon!

Hey guys, been a little while but I have some updates!

Here's a WIP of the second guardian squad:

I have 8 right now and just ordered the weapon crew guys, so that squad should be done fairly soon.

I did some minor work to the bike autarch too. It's really just poppy highlights. I'm redoing the hood of his bike, but I'm not sure to what yet. Ideas?

And I finished the second wraithlord.

Here's a close up of his base. I like how it came out.

Two brothers:

And for anyone interested, here's a video from 2009 when I took best painted at the Battle for Salvation tournament with this army. That's the crew that infamous internet peoples like Frits, Jawaballs, Brother Captain James, and Black Matt play with. It was a cool experience.

Hopefully I'll have some interesting stuff to post soon. Thanks for checking in!

Hey guys. I got bored and made this guy from scrap parts and what not. I thought having a model to represent Asurmen would be cool and I might even try playing him, cause he's kinda neat. He's fairly far from finished painting. I wanted him to look like a fancier version of my Dire Avengers, cause that makes sense. I also added some blue details.
What do you guys think of the paint so far and the conversion? It's not exactly elegant or super well done, but keep in mind i used no green stuff and old beat parts to make this guy.

Hey guys! Been a little while. I found this old falcon at home over thanksgiving, and decided to do something fun with it. I want a tank to use as a nightspinner, and while the real model is cool I'm pretty poor. So I'm making my own tank to use as one. This guy will have the falcon turret with two big ol' guns on either side. I wanted to use an option from the support weapon box. While the spinner cannon in their would make sense, I just thought the vibro cannons looked cooler and I've never seen them stuck on a tank so I bought some from a bits seller for a whole 12 bucks including shipping. While I'm waiting for those I got started on the chassis. I'm going for the same scheme used on the guardians and wraithlords. This bit was painted as a test as I'm not sure if I want to do a few plates in bone to break it up a bit. I think I likely will. I couldn't get a good picture, but I stuck some starcannon barrels and bits on the backdoor to imitate the piece provided in the fire prism/night spinner box. Anyways, here she is so far:

It's a little washed by glare, but you can get the idea. It's the exact same colors as on the wraithlords, so it's really quite dark.
I think the scheme looks pretty cool on a tank so far eh? I'll have more when I have more done. Thanks for checking in!
