Mission 1:
1) If a unit is in a Transport must they disembark to dig?
2) if not needed to disembark, Can the transport fire while the unit inside digs?
3) Can a unit dig again, if bad result?
4) if a different unit gains objective can it dig, after it was already dug?
To add to this it says once they come in contact with the objective. Is 3" good enough or do they actually have to contact the objective?

So, being as the word 'excavation' is used, I'm assuming you all are digging for buried treasure.
Answers:
1) Yes, disembark to dig.
2) NA, based on #1
3) No, once you get a result, that's what that objective is. Trap-1, Fake-2,3, Real-4,5, Treasure Trove-6
4) No, see #3
To add to this it says once they come in contact with the objective. Is 3" good enough or do they actually have to contact the objective?
I'm going to say that you have to be in contact with the objective marker to make the roll, otherwise the Trap result is pretty much a moot point.
For those of you coming to the East, we are setting up terrain today. Trying to make sure each table has at least 25% terrain, and some of that will be tall enough to block LOS to vehicles, at least for cover saves. Mix of GW COD buildings, GF9 prepainted, and large rocky plateaus we dubbed "avatar scenery". Similar set up to tournaments we run if you've been here or seen pictures.
A couple people have dropped. At about 18 right now.

Interesting. Looks like i will just be playing for the board wipe massacre. Crosses fingers and hopes people build armies for low KP. They are easier to kill off.

I would drive 6 hours to play in the finals if they were in LA, but Sacramento is 11 hours away and not worth it.
There is only a small chance of winning a prize and I do not think that they are that good in this round if I remember correctly. Also I have a ticket to the throne of skulls (which is not worth that much this year because you can buy a ticket) so I do not need that.

It's pointless, and it's almost guaranteed to look terrible too with no painting standard!
Whats the point again?

It's the US Marines' or old-school GW Gladiator version of 'ard. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.
The playing field is not always level, life isn't fair, and games aren't always either.
Heck, between codex matchups and terrain, even when using straight book scenarios or extremely well-designed ones (like Adepticon Champs), the playing field when you start any given game is not always level. I brought a fairly high-KP list to Adepticon and since KP was a factor in every mission, that was a hindrance in all four of my matchups, since my opponents had all built low.
Yes, having unbalanced scenarios makes it worse, but most AB scenarios (at least in the last three years) haven't been that bad. Only a couple have really been out there (like round 3 of the Prelim last year).

I made it to Minnesota in one piece surprisingly and re-coned the store. It looks like a pretty nice establishment up here and they have a ridiculous stock of warhammer, warhammer 40k, and anything GW. I didnt however like the treck through iowa. It was horrible and I think I drove past a bunch of pastors as it smelled of various smells all the way up. lol, looking forward to the competition in the morning and I will let you all know how it goes.

Fun day! I tied my first game to ig but would have won if we'd had time to finish. That was a bit of a bummer, but I should have been paying closer attention to time. I was psotioned correctly, but didn't have time for my finishing moves. Oh well.
Lost my second game to battlewagon orks, which is a really tough match-up for me. My opponent played a good game and man were his dice hot. He made damn near every kff save and morale check and pulled it out on me, 2 to 1. Good game.
I bounced after that as there was an odd number of players and I wanted to get a jump start on the ride home, which is why my score was so low. Congratz to the winners and thanks to great escape games for hosting a fun event!

I tied Austin (west coast winner) in the semi-finals in Phoenix and I hope he resolved the some of the issues that we had in our game.
But he is a really good player.

Interesting? Didnt figure he would pull it out against the dark eldar player that he faced in the third round. He played Blood Angels, unknown, and dark eldar.
I played my IG at the midwest:
Round 1: Inquistor Grey knights with 3 storm ravens with a librarian shrouding (Minor victory 3 to 1, both my objectives were fakes and nearly cost me the game)
Round 2: Blood Angels (2 baal preds, 2 storm ravens, 2 furiouso and, and a couple las plas razorbacks) Would of tied on table quarters but he failed a leadership test and fleed on the final turn loosing him the game rough loss! Minor victory me
Round 3: a 9 kill point Draigo Grey knight list. The midwest finals had walls that where long and about 5 to 6 inches tall that sanctioned off parts of the board. He hid his entire army and just show a couple of things. I only lost 6 kill points but he hid his army the whole time and rolled excellent saves, I was powerless to beat matt ward.
Rant will come soon about how grey knights have broken 40k and things we might do to possibly fix it.

Cool, thanks for the info! Very curious to hear the CSM list; Clark Welch's CSM took 1st in the East Coast last year.

CSM list was: Abaddon Winged Lash Sorceror (not DP) 3x4 Terminators w/Reapers, Chainfist, and 3 of either Combi- Plas/Melta 7 Chaos Marines w/Melta in Rhino 5 Lesser Daemons 5 Lesser Daemons 7 Plague Marines w/2 Melta in Rhino 7 Berserkers in Rhino 7 Berserkers in Rhino 3x3 Obliterators It was solid. It matched up well to my BA's when I forgot to Deathmask Abaddon and he ate 70% of my army . His second round was standard Mech IG. He basically just had to tie his last game to win the tournament. Sidenote: GK are not broken. Less crying and more playing

Ok, lets do a fair representation of what happened. That wall, was the only piece of terrain in my DOW deployment zone! And someone griped when I tried to get a judge over to fix it. And talking to the judge later, it indeed was not supposed to look like that, that nice piece of area terrain on your side was supposed to fill the HUGE gap on my side of the board.
Sorry about the poor quality, I didn't realize it was such a poor picture until later. Note the 12"x4"x1" wall. You had one too.
Then your moves on turn one was a huge mistake, you deployed a huge portion of your army in such a way that I could block LOS with my ONLY terrain piece. As to saves, Driago failed his first two! Also turn one my entire army failed to see yours! It was also 6 KPs in 3 turns when you got very agitated and wanted to just call it because, "I roll 70% 6s" and my dice "bounce funny." I simply used my small model count, few KPs, single piece of terrain, Reserves, and cover/shrouding to give me a very high chance of success.
One piece of helpful advice, when someone greets you and asks you what you play don't say, " IG, i designed my list to kill DriagoWing." It doesn't go over well. Also, please read the basic wound allocation rules again as well as cover rules for infantry models.
