No, it works fine. As does Lord of Battle, Lord of Skulls, etc. It's quite a grandiose, gothic way of talking - but that's Warhammer!

I think you're overtly obsessed with the one particular use of the phrase in the specific context of that movie.

"Lord of" is a common english expression (Lord of the Rings, Lord of Flies, Lord of the Dance, Lord of Parliament), etc.. . It can well be used in conjunction with the English noun "War", and without the specific context of the movie you reference, it has none of the demeaning and/or humorist implications you claim it has simply because it was once used in one movie in that particular way.

Personally, I find these to be interesting concepts, if they are indeed going to come true. They seem like interesting ways to play 40K.

Edit: whoops, never mind. Somebody posted this before. Anyway, yeah, I'm looking forward to dem new models.

Hardbacks, c. 100 pages long.
Escalation provides rules for super heavies, gargantuans and D-weapons + 16 unit sheets providing options for all armies.
For example Revenant titan for Eldar and Dark Eldar ( I guess Tantalus was not good enough?).
I'd expect all models released in plastic + 1-2 per army. Thunderhawks are mentioned as one of those vehicles.

Basically mini-Apocalypse with about 50% superheavies which are described.

The fortification supplement gives datasheets for released fortification sets, how to combine some of them and field as larger constructs + various rules for buildings, ruins etc.

Both books include missions and background sections, but fluff is not too important contrary to codex supplements. Treat them as Planetstrike, Spearhead and similar sets of rules we've seen in the past.

Yeah, any rumour that mentions a plastic Thunderhawk and comes from a source with no former track record doesn't rate very plausible to me.

But hey, would love to be surprised. And I'll already be surprised if the release comes with any models at all.

I'm pretty sure that it will. Apoc came with new models. Also, note how Best_Pone mentions there being about 15 superheavies, they'd need models. And Apoc already made a few such models, so they're already partway there.

They already do those. I.e.:

Of course, these come with an actual discount, so not sure if they count as one-click bundles.

The Apocalypse book also included Forgeworld models, so I don't see why these super-heavies suddenly require plastic models/replacement models. And Best_Pone always mentioned models in his previous rumours while this one only mentions the books, so I wouldn't expect any new ones at least. These expansions seem to be more on par with Death from the Skies - books with some consolidated/updated rules for existing models and a few new rule shenanigans like that dogfighting business in DftS.

He probably means that all the plastic Superheavies like the Baneblade and Variants will be in it plus some of Forge Worlds Superheavies. I think that we get nothing bigger than a Warhound in that Book.

It did? I thought that the superheavies introduced in Apoc were from GW, though? So that doesn't rule out new models coming, just that they might get some from FW.

I'm just thinking that, since these two expansions will be adding quite a few units, no new models for any of them would seem odd.

As much as I would love there to be a plastic T Hawk in the works, or, perhaps more accurately, due for release soon, to claim between 15-30 new plastic kits are due for release next month, while not impossible, is unprecedented.

It is far more likely that we'll see no new units, the least broken FW units nicked for regular 40K, and, if we are lucky, one or two kits, either retooled from resin to plastic or perhaps new to the game.

Expecting anything else is likely setting yourself up for disappointment.

The quote sounds more like "There will be rules for all current plastic superheavies + 1-2 new plastic super heavies coming out".. as opposed to 30 new plastic kits which doesn't make any sense at all.

Who says they're adding new units? I think it's much more likely they're just rehashing current super-heavies into the book.

The former.

So not too many FW resin superheavies, but some obviously will have to appear in the book.
I doubt that things such as Eldar titans will be made in plastic.

There appears to be a difference from Apocalypse and regular 40k games, but the exact rules for them I do not know. Any Lords of War though are expensive in points, and I have been told that the Khorne Lord of Skulls matches the point value found in apocalypse, sitting at 888pts.

There are only certain units that are in escalation, so no others are allowed for regular 40k games. There are only 16 listed in the new book. As to the point level of the games, there is mention of 1500 or 2000pt games. Here are the known models that can be used for regular games in Escalation.
