Why? Given that the IG structure is closely linked to modern military formations I don't see why the IA would have a different organisation; I see no reason why the CCS would disappear. I can see a more limited role for Commissars though.
Commissars weren't around until after HH I thought?
Also modern militaries don't have a man with a flag and a bunch of officers just running around lol

Forgive my ignorance- is there no chance nids are infiltrating / on the fringes of the galaxy in 30k? Wouldn't it be possible reports just didn't get back to Terra? Just saying dunno if this is ironclad ruled out elsewhere?

It's possible. They could always write in an advance scouting force or some such. After all, the original Tyranid warrior looked like this in the Rogue Trader book:
Are they going to make a new infantry type for the IG with this or are we just going to see a rules change where you can use your guys as IG from 30K?
I hear the word supplement and I think GW, but I know FW doesn't really do supplements. I think Prospero is where you'll see the new Imperial Army models if they make any... also be cool to see some Sisters of Silence if they do that book up right as well.
This is all exciting, but I'd much rather see some 'in progress' stuff. Rumor mill can be tricky on timing.

I reckon we'll see FW's re-envisioning of these fine fellows:

Why would you alter the fluff of the Tyranids to shoehorn them into the Horus Heresy? There role would be so minor as to pale into insignificance when compared with the main event. Their role would need to be so minor that they were forgotten as an enemy, or so huge that you need to change the fluff.
If anything the only races that should/could be present would be Orks, Eldar & Necrons.

yah, it would kinda be like trying to shoe horn the Tau into the books. Better off trying to cover some of the alien races that were larger players at the time, and still managed to exist into "modren" 40k. The Saharduin and Tarellian Dog-soldiers come to mind for me as ones that could be interesting to see on the table top. Both these races are apparently still bopping around in the galexy. That and I would love to the with FW take on them. Their is also the classic like Hurd. I think the space spider guys are also still around in the modren fluff. But I can't remember the name of ATM for thows guys.

A thousand times yes!
I've been thinking about an allied IG detachment for my Marines on and off for a while, I'd go crazy for a modern take on those. I'd be trying to hoover up enough of those already if they didn't look so different when stood by modern Marine models.
Oh, and Beastmen too please, then I can add some IG to my Daemons with a suitably Chaotic look.

That would be nice. I would then already have a 30K Imperial Army army built and painted...

Also just re-read the wording from my link, it says "a supplement to the IG codex for 30k". I guess the news here is a supplement, not that they are actually doing 30k IG.
Hopefully there is at least a ton of new models from forgeworld!

I love those old style RTIG, I used that Commander body for my Captain and made sure all my Junior officers have breastplates...I even have a black and gray scheme.

After many conversations with Forge World writers and designers, I can say that I don't believe there is a 30k Imperial Guard supplement coming. What I've been told - and from others closer to this than me - the next trilogy of Horus Heresy rulebooks (Prospero, Calth, Signus) will include rules sections for the Imperial Army - loyalist and traitor.
This will take the form of small expansions in the main book much like the Mechanicum lists in Betrayal and Massacre.
As a quick aside, I was also told that 'Signus' will feature not just Blood Angels and Daemons but Dark Angels in some capacity as well.
Ooh, Prospero, Calth, and Signus... crap that's a lot of books coming.... So we're looking at Space Wolves, Thousand Sons, Ultramarines, Blood Angels, and the Dark Angels over the next trilogy.. interesting.
Well that sucks about the supplement, also means I'd imagine that they won't make any pre-heresy IG... oh well.

Yeah, I'm all over that as well! Rogue Trader forces have interested me since the early dreadnought and vehicle charts they used to put in WD with Rogue Trader insignia and colors.

Nids could always be the 2nd or 11th legion who were so terribly mutated that they were hunted down to a gaunt. After all marines and nids both adapt, and eat their prey in order to assimilate he memory of their foes. The primarch just enjoyed the genetic engineering that was pre leant on his home world and kept modifying his people. For this he emperor sanctioned him, but enough of them escaped the purging and left the galaxy in order to regroup and return.
