Assemble 'man cave' (dedicated gaming/painting room that my wonderful girlfriend has very kindly let me have the spare room for.)

High priority goals:
1. Stick to my current plan to not waste my hobby money on gak I don't have any use for.
2. Spend less time planning/thinking/chatting about my hobby and spend more time actually practising it.
3. Do extensive research and contemplating before buying into a new game.

Low priority goals:
1. Maybe (but only maybe) get myself an airbrush.
2. Scratchbuild more.
3. Maybe get back into 40K (but again, only maybe, and if I do it'll probably be something like Killteam or In the Emperors Name, if I can get more people to start it with me)
4. Try out an RPG (possibly combine this with point 3)

- Settle on a kit/conversion for my XV8's, right now its a toss between (resin farsight, R'ymr, XV89, or a chop job on the GW plastic kit). Then of course building the 13 XV8's

- Buy/assemble a 1500 pt DKoK assault brigade army

- Acquire some FW admech once they release the models from gamesday.

Mine is simple, yet complex all at the same time. My new year resolution is to actually complete an army project and not get distracted by another army that makes me switch so I never actually get anything done.

New Years Hobby Resolution:

Paint 365 models in one year.
Stretch goal! Paint 1000 models in one year.

Considering that i have painted perhaps 200 models in my 14 years of the hobby so far, this will be a Big Thing for me.
Hopefully it will amount to an entire Hordes Trollbloods force and my 2000pt Tau army. Although I may cheat and say that 1 tank = 5 models or something

- Actually play some games. I'm very lazy when it comes to grab my stuff and play some games, I'm mostly a modeler, so I kinda want to change that.

- Find an army I really like and paint it: I started with Necrons but they didn't exactly click with me. I was thinking about changing to C:SM but with Tyranids being released soon, I dunno. I really can't decide, I like the look of most 40k armies, I need to pick one and paint it and I need to be paint it smart: No going crazy with the troops, just basic basing, shading and edge highlighting / drybrush. Crazy work for the Elite Troops and up.

- Start Infinity.

- Again, paint smart: I take far too much type when painting basic troops. I love to paint, but I really gotta learn to NOT go nuts with basic troops.

- Use Ebay or similar: I have far too much "crap" already that I will never use. Gotta clean up a bit.

This was actually my goal for 2013 - to paint 365 models in a year. Including "renovations" and updates to old models, and each individual piece of scenery. Unfortunately, I came up with it in March, so I was 3 months down to begin with. By day 226 I had 124 completed, and, well, I haven't been keeping track since I started on the Ogre project, so it's probably around 140-150 now. edit - 142 models painted this year. Not too bad, and my best year in many, if not ever - though it does include a lot of "updated' models and doesn't even touch the amount I bought this year...

I've had my 2014 goal planned since I came up with the 2013 one, though - Finish painting more figures than I did in the preceding year. Which I'll continue on with, probably till I drop dead.

Specifically this coming year, I want to:

Finish the 2k pts Ogre Army for KoW
Paint a 2k pts Dark Elf/Twilight Kin Army for KoW
Paint a 300?600? pt Allied Detatchment for KoW to ally with others (Giant, Trebuchet, Wolves)
Paint an Undead Army for KoW using GW, Mantic and LotR Undead (also doubles as an Army of the Dead for LotR SBG and WotR!)
Finish a ton of Men of Gondor for SBG/WotR and KoW armies of Man

Resurrect/update my old Dark Angels force into a 600-pt Combat Patrol
Paint 600-odd points of Deathwing as a CP
Paint 600-odd points of Ravenwing as a CP
Add some exta DA stuff, and Bingo! 2k point DA army!

Resurrect/finish/update my old 3.5-edition Iron Warriors CP force into a 2013-edition 600-pt Combat Patrol, then expand into 2k points or so.
Resurrect/update my 3rd-edition Mentor Legion Marine army into a 2013-edition army (including a Combat Patrol force)
When the IG codex comes out, resurrect/update my 2nd/3rd-edition IG army into a 2014-edition army (including several Combat Patrol forces)
When the IG codex comes out, resurrect/finish/update my 3rd-edition Deathworld/Jungle Fighters/Ogryn/Sentinel Maori-themed IG CP into a 2014-edition Combat Patrol force.
When the Tyranid codex comes out, resurrect/update my old Tyranid CP force into a 2014-edition 600-pt Combat Patrol.

Resurrect/finish/update my old 2005-edition Ork CP force into a 2013-edition 600-pt Combat Patrol. Despite previously being close to finished, Probably one of the harder ones, since in the interim they've changed the way Ork units buy and allocate special/heavy weapons pretty substantially, and also halved their point values - so it will need a busload of additional Orks to bring back up to 600pts...


So as you can see, there are a couple of themes running through there... hopefully I can make some or most of it a reality, since much of it shouldn't involve painting too many additional models...


Also - Convert the garage into a games room, and actually play a bunch of games!

Finish something. Anything.

1) Terminator squad. Been based coated since April.
2) Starter group of Cygnar. Been primed and one model with one base color since 2009.
3) Fairly large group of Protectorate of Menoth picked up in 2008.
4) Duper Dungeon Explore starter and some expansions picked up in 2010.
5) Four different models from Knight Models' Batman line.

If I just finish one blasted mini from anywhere I'll have 100% increase in production.

1) Finish painting all the models from the Goblinaid charity project

(I'll have an entire range painted! and can really feel pleased if I get this done and will buck my 'ooh shiney' tend of moving onto something new too easily)

2)Paint more goblins (& Orcs/Orks) to joint them while I'm on a greenskin roll

3) Finish some of the large number of 1/35 projects I've got part done and think down the kits in store if I don't actually want to build them

I'm going to focus on painting my DA and starting an IH army.

I only have one, that is a yearly ongoing battle to build and paint what i have on an overloaded desk, plus my impulse bought boxes of stuff i have in the corners of my man cave.

Try and paint more ! That's it realy , otherwise it's building the second game room+ reading room.
