Have we seen anything about Armada's "terrain"? As I'm excited to use these for both games if possible.

It looks like there are asteroid tokens in the promo pics, but they look like different shapes. The 6'x3' mats should work though.

I suppose with the scale changes that was to be expected. Though alternate bases for the asteroids might be something to look into once we have the tokens in hand.

Any plans to do some Debris Markers in the future?

I don't play Star Trek attack wing, but it's bigger than x-wing at the local shop, any plans on doing the planets from that?

Well, congrats; this is the first kickstarter I've backed.

You sold me with "actual images from the Hubble".

This is great news!

Eldarain - I've thought about debris markers, but I would want them to look like destroyed ships, and they are copyrighted. Don't want to anger the mouse. I could do them with 'generic sci-fi debris, but I don't think they'd have the same appeal.

Theophony - I'll be honest, I know nothing about attack wing other than it uses the flight path system. Do they use planets instead of asteroids?

Lorek - welcome to the kickstarter! Thanks for your support! Hubble produces some tasty images huh?

Eggs, just backed. These mats look impressive. Just asked this question in the comments section, but thought I'd post here aswell, see what others think.

I wonder if you might consider producing them at 3'x4' also?

I don't know if this would be a huge hassle, perhaps it would, but it would still give you a nice, small manageable mat, but it'd also make it easy to nicely fill up a 6'x4' table/board.

6'x3' just always seems a little narrow to me. I would probably also support the 4'x4' idea put forward above.

Cheers

Would it be possible to just get the astroid stands? I have enought mats and astroids as it is right now, but the acrylic stands would be great.

Alan - I can certainly look at it. There seems to be a market for it, so I'll sit down with photoshop the next chance I get and see if the resolution holds up when scaled up to 4 foot across.

Asperon - I'm afraid the bases just wouldn't be cost effective on their own. They are pretty expensive to have made really, and are the single biggest cost with a batch of asteroids. This is offset by the fact that I'm able to cast the asteroids relatively cheaply. Sorry I can't be more helpful there, but there are plenty businesses out there that can make them to order for you.

I hope to buy a laser cutter of my own mid 2015, in which case I would certainly offer them.

Very interested in this. Probably me being dense but what's the difference between asteroids and xl asteroids? Next kickstarter get on some seascapes.

Zond, the standard size is about the size of the picture on the token, though the bases are the size of the whole token. The xl size is the size of the whole token.

The picture is surrounded by a black border on the tokens themselves.

Does that clear it up for you?

We're just people like anyone else. He needs to get a tournament organizer on board!

I'm actually heading out tonight to a new gaming group in my city to try and tout for business.

A tournament organiser would be amazing though.

That would be a great boon for you. With the great functionality of your asteroids I'm sure TOs would be thrilled to include them.

I would like a 4x8 for playing battle fleet gothic… I doubt 2 4x4s would match up nicely. I think I'll see if some local gamers will go in on a set of star wars stuff though.

Hi folks. Just wanted to let you know that the kickstarter has funded in the first week. I'm over the moon, and can't wait to get these products out to you.

The support from dakka alone has been awesome.

Better get mucking out the garage and setting up my casting stuff!

If you do a 6' x 4' mat, I would also definitely be in on this KS.

I'm looking at that now Denllsta. There have been a few requests, so I'm working something up. Will hopefully be added in the next few days.

Eggs, would we be able to add funds in a pledge manager after the end of the KS? I'm keen for maybe two mats but a bit strapped at the moment.

I appreciate it may be a bit of a pain though.

Can't guarantee that I'd be in, but a 6x4 mat would definitely be tempting... IT'd probably depend on the price point to be honest.

Eggs, I think you could make ship debris so banged up and blasted that you could have a few little evocative bits mixed in without violating copyright.

There are some bits, like the tip of an X-wing laser cannon, that aren't really anything copyrightable on their own. It's just a generic little satellite dish-looking shape. If you put in a little piece like that mixed in with generic paneling, wires, venting plasma, etc., it would provide a little touchstone for players to fill in more salient details with their imaginations.

If you sculpted little bits like that yourself, I think you'd probably be okay. IANAL though, obviously, and this is not in any way, shape, or form legal advice.

That's a solid concept for the debris fields. Depending upon how widespread their use is that is definitely worth considering I'd think.

After a bit of kickstarter burn out due to the hated restic (yes you mantic with your shiny models but damnable material) I have pledged in with you so i can have a cool starfield for my FA games with my sons.
Only a mat at the moment but I am getting more and more tempted to add an asteroid pack. Is the material easy enough to model with? Could I add on the Spartan Scenery stuff to make mining colonies?

Looking forward to some laser Pew Pew over the Hubble imagery.

Thanks Eggs
