Thanks for the support guys !

@ Llamahead : I already thought it was going to be bad - there was actually relief on some parts of what were supposed to be flat plates.
It looked like an Ultramarine LR, underneath which were found : black undercoat, green, white undercoat, black undercoat, blue and black again.

@ Ezra Tyrius : what part from Belgium are you from?

Now onto some more orks.

First some more boys:

I love these cyborkbits, so I plan to add more to the army.

As can be (vaguely) seen : I need to rework quite some part.
I used the washes way too rough, which made it pool in certain areas.
Sometimes it adds this comicbook-like shadow (which I like), but sometimes it's just bad.

It's mainly due that on average I work on 50 models at a time, so by the time I check back to the first ones, they're already dry.

Here's some more boys with their ride.

The "Hummer" (and its fellow hummers) needs a rework. It feels too much like a model kit still.
Nice little touch of this kit though: they come with rubber tyres.
Of course on this one, I had to loose them...

And then there are my all-time favourite orks : lootaz !!!
Really : what's more orky than a big gun, with lotz of shooty randomness ?
That's right : 30 orks with a big gun of shooty randomness

Yes, I removed the harness/cage thing on the stock ones.
Wasn't a big fan of it - especially not after seeing what Irondog (http://www.irondogstudios.com) who inspired me on collecting orks did.

So, off they went.

I also appropriated some imperial weapons for some proper dakka.

Even removed a rotary gun from my megadread.
That guy has probably become my favourite boy (even if he's hiding a bit in the background)

In fact I like the gun so much, I looted the other one too for my flash gitz

These are the basic "monopose" nobs from AoBR, with their head replaced with Kromlech ones and arms/weapons removed from boys and nobz

Here's a new one I'm working on:

a little group shot of the band so far:

I also started to add some grassy things, to add a little more depth to the bases.

Enjoy!

Those Blood Ravens look nice too.

Thanks hungryp

But it's not as bad as it seems:

I tend to work up to a certain standard and once I get the scheme right I only allow myself between
1h & 3h of painting time on a single model - start to finish.

So I generally don't do highlights on pouches, or edge highlights, ...
it's like prepainted models

There's weathering and there's weathering - I just tend to slap on powders, ... like I would do on a painting.
To add interest to certain areas. It's not realistically done, it's more a painterly way of doing things.

that's also why I tend to add highlights to some things, not to others.

Also, what REALLY speeds things up:
work on 40/50 models at once.

yes, at times you feel like a brainless automaton,
but suddenly you find yourself with a couple of playable units at once.

Here's a to do list for my orks:

• 20 ard boyz (shootaz)
• 20 ard boyz (sluggas)
• 5 cybork bikers
• 5 bikers
FW warboss on bike
• 3 deffkoptas
• 20 gretchin
• 6 artillery pieces
• Killblasta conversion (and getting it painted)
• 6 trakks / buggies
• 3 flash gitz
• 4 stormboyz
• Mobile Kremlin (count-as stompa - think of a St. Basil's Cathedral on tracks)
• 10 tankbustas (these lovely "old" metal ones)

and this :

So I divide this in a couple of batches (10 boys, 3 bikes, 2 artillery, etc.),
so each stays interesting and adds playable elements to the army.

@ Ezra :
In case you happen to pass in the area of Leuven, fell free to drop in...

And I generally I don't finish them in a day
it's about an hour/model including undercoat, wash, basic highlight, basing, some weathering, ...

november last year I succeeded in finishing about 1850 points of orks
(but that included the baneblade, meganobz and some other expensive units)
and about 1000 points of other models.

but than also:
I don't take work home with me, I don't watch television, play games, ...

just paint every free moment I got.

Time for some fast stuff...

Starting with some basic bikers...

Oh, these old plastic bikes.
They sure are tiny (that's a 40mm base they're on).

I'm still busy converting the guns.

the riders are basic ork boyz, one of the reasons why the look kinda wobbly (and they have difficulty fitting to the handles).

I just added some Black Orc shield to a couple of them, to add some variation to the front side.

Next, the unit that's quickly becoming my mainstay : deffkoptaz

i just love them as a unit - painting wise : not so much.
and boy, do these chopper blade break quickly...

At one point I had gathered about 12 of these from the AoBR-set.
But I couldn't stand to paint moren than 3

Then there's my second favourite thing:
stormboyz.

Once again: on the cheap.
They're the basic AoBR-boyz with a plastic Marine jump pack attached.

The nob I tended to use as a count-as Zaggstrukk (I added some basic claw like thing to his boots), with a dreadnought exhaust as a jump pack.

Still some more to add.

i'm also going to rebase some of them to add some height to the unit, and find a decent solution for the nob.

To end our fast attack slots: the dakkajet.

This was the major f***-up. I of course forgot I was using superglue and the glass completely fogged up.
So i did the second bad thing: painting the glass, pretending to be an expert NGG-effect painter (Non Gloss Gloss).

Back to da topic :

Main "issue" I had was that I was that some parts (pilot, in between the rockets) are hard to reach when you glue them together.

And of course, I'm one of these people who never ever do subassemblies, which means I'm often screwed when it comes to reaching hard-to-each parts.
Does give me the opportunity to whine about it, though

Canopy is a bit of a breach in style.
Little (serious: it is small compared to regular boys) pilot was painted - but in a kind of OSL.
Guess he may have ended getting some frosting too.

But got me some new tankcrew and pilots from Kromlech,
so I guess I'll just force open the canopy and replace everything with something new...

A turf war on Zthalinork's turf? I think I'd rather take my chances with the Blood Angels than meeting Zthalinork on the battlefield

I actually like the colour of the Dakkajet's canopy, but that's personal preference I suppose

By the way, is Zthalinork going to krump Grukk Face-rippa for claiming "da Red Waaaagh!", or have we had enough Red Army references in your army already

@ 40kFSU : thanks mate. seen some awesome from you too (Love your Genswicks)

Today I'm gonna show some walkers.

Originally I wanted some deff dreads as you were capable of taking one as a troop choice when taking a big mek.
So I started looting a space marine dread. I didn't want a very mobile looking thing. It had to look like vaguely inspired by
a sort of up armoured powered engineer suit or something.

Hence the posing of the saw blades, etc.
i added a hatch on top and at the back, so some grotz could climb out and fix damage or oil the blades.
Dunno where they're supposed to fit inside - but that's an issue a lot of these models have, don't they?

It sat unpainted on my desk of about 3 months, until I attended a local tournament and I wanted to enter something into the painting competition.
Hence the difference in painting style and the snowy base.
In the meantime, the snowy base has been removed - but I kept the painting.

one day, I'll get the army up to this standard (ah well, we can always dream, can't we?)

Here's a second one I'm working on - as you can see, the painting style is quite different.
This one's based on the AoBR-dread.

Now after doing two dreads like these, I suddenly had a useless ork deffdread body lying around.

I didn't want to waste it, as it's such a nice looking thing, so I turned it into a quad gun.
I'm gona add some supporting beams to the back and some grot crew (now I've bought me some of these FW grotz).

the guns are the lascannons of some unfortunate land raider, a CSM heavy bolted, an imperial missile launcher, some bolters and lasguns...
A decent amount of dakka.

And since no bunch of walkers is complete without kans:
Kans!

Since the kans got a bit nerfed, I used the bodies of the others for my buggies.
I'm going to replace the rocket with another grotzooka, as it looks the best after all.
Also ruleswise, it would be nice to run them as some decent artillery-like support.

also, please note my ever returning unbeatable nemesis : "The Mould Linez"

grotzookas never disappoint something about laying down 6 small blasts in the heart of an infantry platoon makes the ork inside me smile .

the quad gun looks fantastic. And the deff dreads... I'm going to loot that idea, because I freaking love it.

Thanks for the waiting and the comments, guys!

Been busy with way to many things and without a camera for the moment.

I'm going to attend a local tournament in april - actually the only tournament I ever attend, really.
Since it's a tournament that counts for the ETC-ranking (or something), quite a lot of real tournament players do attend.
Harder lists, but it's kinda offset by the "special" scenarios that are used.

This year it's only 1500 points - no formations, allies or lords of war allowed.

here's the stuff I'm going with...

HQ1 : The Grand Dezpot ZТАLЇИОЯК
warboss, megaarmour, lucky stikk

Troop 1 : 1st GuaЯdzy ZТАLЇИII
10 x boyz, shootaz, RPG, nob, big choppa, BMP-1 (trukk with RPG)

Troop 2 : 2nd GuaЯdzy ZТАLЇИII
10 x boyz, shootaz, RPG, nob, big choppa, BMP-1 (trukk with RPG)

Troop 3 : 45th Tamanskaya MotoЯ Яiflez
10 x boyz, shootaz, RPG, T-34/70 (trukk with RPG)

Troop 4 : 129th Moskva VolunteeЯ Яiflez
10 x boyz, shootaz, big shoota, BANTIK JEEP (trukk with big shoots)

ELITE 1 : 150th STOЯMBЯiGADE “KАLЇИII”
3 x meganobz, kombiskorcha, BANTIK JEEP (trukk with big shoota)

ELITE 2 : 150th STOЯMBЯiGADE “BERLЇИII”
4 x meganobz, kombiskorcha, BANTIK JEEP (trukk with big shoota)

FAST 1 : KONAЯMIA “Kliment VoЯoshilov”
7 x warbikers, nob, powerklaw

FAST 2 : KONAЯMIA “Semyon Budyonny”
7 x warbikers, nob, big choppa

HEAVY 1 : 149th Katyusha Яegiment
3 x lobbas

HEAVY 2 : 148th AT Яegiment
3 x ZIS-3 Field GUNS (kannons), 2 Ammo Runtz
1 x ZSU AA_GUN ‘SHILKA’ (traktor kannon), 1 ammo runt

HEAVY 3 : 15th Moskva SuPPOЯT VOLUNTEEЯz
9 x lootas

About 75% of the army is painted, so that leaves so time to finally do some "pimping"...

first up:
some more propaganda banners/posters/flyers.

I'll need about 7 different designs to add to the 5 I already have.
This will add a lot of variety and colour to the army
- I'll add these to some poles to replace the stock boss poles on my meganobz for instance.

Some people will of course whine about these posters not strictly being freehand -
but I really want the effect / wear&tear you get with real paper posters.
I'll even add a little halftone effect in printing.

Here's the start (on average : a poster will be about 14mm high in real life)

Oh, and they're not as pixeled in real life

I'm still struggling with the difference in painting style and making it work for me...

And I'm continuing helping a friend getting his Daemonhorde done.
I devised a white colour scheme, to which all kinds of colour washes were added.

Technique wise it's a mix of blending, stippling, ...

Here's a Soul Grinder :

And some Screamers :

So far, I've done about 40 Horrors, 30 PlagueBearers, 40 Daemonettes, 20 Flesh hounds, a bunch of Heralds (10 / 12) and some princes.

Still some Nurglings, Seekers, drones and some more Soul Grinders to do.
Hope you like
