Just a question I'd like to ask all the people who organize tourneys. And for tourney players, do you care to play against people who use Forgeworld models and rules? Talk to me.

Well a lot of the FW stuff is alright.. However, never under any circumstances allow the UPDATED dreadnought drop pods or deathwind drop pods in any tournament games
If you do let me know so I can come auto-win with BA dreads in dreadnought drop pods :p Since FW thought it was an awesome idea to make them assault vehicles
Their variant drop pods are some of the most over powered and poorly thought out ideas theyve ever done.. ever

Yeah- in the lead up to Adepticon this year, we were kicking around trying to resin cast 6 of them for a drop SM list for the gladiator.
Those aside, most of the FW stuff is actually well- or over-costed for its functionality.
We don't play tournaments with them, but do allow them for most pick up games and themed events.

Campaign events - generally yes, with some restrictions e.g. have to be from own army, take up "Heavy" slot (if superheavy warmachine), limited points available etc - and usually have some form of reward for NOT taking SH vehicles, e.g. extra FOC slots.
Tournaments - not so much. A key of tournaments is know thy enemy, and there are SO many differing rules for IA stuff, and so many different books you need to buy, it is not considered reasonably to expect people to know them all - meaning anyone with obscure IA unit X has an immediate advantage.
I agree with Kartelkopf though - 90%+ of FW stuff is overcosted or under powered, there are just one of two that are really broken - I agree on the Lucius patterns as well, they are obscene for 15 ponts less than the less reliable Dreadclaw....

Too many imbalanced units and rules among FW stuff, would need a case to case examination. Too difficult to check for tournament organizers and too difficult to avoid cheating during game.
No problem with using FW models with GW Codex rules though.

Kroothawk, you're right it would have to be on a model-by-model basis. However, I would be okay with a list issued prior to a tournament [didn't Adepticon do this?] that listed any tournament-approved Forgeworld models. It would be easy enough to find the stats for them by asking around [I'm not advocating anything illegal here, let me say], and I haven't really seen that many ''unique'' rules on FW models that aren't already represented in some form or another on regular Codex models... although, I will definitely agree with you that this could open the floodgates for people to take advantage of their opponents' [to the exent, even, of ''cheating'' as you say] lack of familiarity/understanding of what they are fielding...
